Did not stay but went for dinner, when ordering our pie we asked if it was just plain steak, the lady checked for us and came back and said just onions for flavour this was fine. Then when getting our food the pies had been microwaved all burned on the outside of the pie. I had to send my pie back as the pie had mushrooms in. The service was good and lady got me another “plain”steak pie. This left us eating at different times. When food came this time was steak and they were both nice food but chips had been re heated in dish in microwave. When paying the lady apologised then asked if everything

Went for a Sunday dinner after being out in the area. I'd heard good things about this place, primarily their Christmas nights and have been meaning to try it out for a while. Well we were not disappointed. Nothing was too much for the staff and the food was outstanding. Will definitely be back again.

Stayed for four nights and got a warm welcome and a great room. Hot water in bathroom sometimes a bit intermittent. Excellent breakfast (although the raspberries were often past their best) and normally a good range of evening meals. I would stay again but avoid staying over a weekend if you like eating where you're sleeping when they have a guest chef in. You might find only two meals you fancy from the special menu and that doesn't change so we had to find alternative places for two evening meals.

Had a bit of wait after ordering, but the food was lovely, lots of it and vegetables cooked perfectly (a pet hate is overcooked veg, yuk). Really good meal and the chef was able to cater for someone with nut, dairy and shellfish allergies, and still serve a wonderful meal. Staff were good to so well done The White Mare. Would easily recommend.

Popped in on a Monday night to try dinner.
We were welcomed by a roaring log fire in this quaint 200 year old cottage pub with oak beans across the ceiling. A woman sat at a table with a drink and a good book, she looked like she was in heaven.
We had the Lasagne and the fish and chips. The dressing on the small side salad was awesome, it was a type of whipped mayo with something added. So I was off to a great start.
I ordered the Lasagne and my wife the fish and chip. Unfortunately I could only eat half of it, my wife stole the other half when I left her try it. The Lasagne was brilliant, tasty
