Baydale Beck Darlington

We are ideally situated in the beautiful West End of Darlington, on the outskirts of the lovely countryside between Low Coniscliffe and Broken Scar Picnic Area. We are now into our 18th year and have a 'simple dream', to create a warm, welcoming village inn serving consistently delicious home cooked food, hand pulled ales and great wines & amazing selection of gins.

Our charming cosy Bar rooms with log fires, flagstone floors, create a warm friendly atmosphere and make it the perfect place to relax and unwind. Looking for a Private Dining Room for that Special Family Occasion or just a Get together with Friends then our newly refurbished conservatory provides the perfect venue.

We have been regular customers for many years. We recently returned after a gap in visits due to the pandemic. We are disappointed by the standards of staff service & food quality. A recent meal which comprised an omelette with salad garnish & a cheese jacket potato was awful. The omelette was thick/ rubbery & for some strange reason the inside of the potato was bright orange & tasted odd. Even the coffee which should have a cappuccino had no resemblance to such a drink. The attitude of two staff members was apathetic & uncaring. We will not return.

Really nice pub, staff are excellent. The best Chicken Parmo I've had, and lots of quality food on the menu. Will be returning:-)

Origional Chef has left after 10 years.. whoever the replacement is puts very little effort into the food. very poor the difference is like night and day. Won't be returning which is a shame as we used to like here.

Nice pub for an evening pint in the Sun. We organised a club do here, food took over an hour to come even though everything was pre ordered, like many places probably understaffed in the kitchen and couldn't deal with the sheer volume of orders, very nice when it did arrive.

The food was delightful only giving a 4 and not 5 was due to service. After our starter and main course we were wanting the menu for deserts no-one came into the area we were for 15mins, after ordering we waited 20mins for sticky toffee pudding and two of the orders we wanted were incorrect. and the conservatory where we were seated was full of flies.

Usually love this place but last few times has been terrible. Staff seemed clueless and never got anything right. I paid extra for my sandwich to have brie in and that was also forgotten, so was basically a mayo sandwich. Other people's vegetables were close to raw amongst other things. Big shame as its usually lovely, may try once more and if it hasn't improved will find somewhere else

The staff here are excellent, service was absolutely wonderful today. Food is brilliant with great vegan options for my girlfriend. And there's ample parking and plenty of areas to eat and drink inland there's also a little park outside for kids. Will definitely be coming back.
