I am visiting from The States and wanted to take my mom to an authentic pub. We went to the bar only to be absolutely glared at by a bartender with white hair. I asked her if we order food at the bar, (which is new to me), and she rolled her eyes and told us that if we wanted food, she wouldn't take our order. "Go over there!!!". She then told the other girl that SHE had to take our order. She also rolled her eyes and laughed in our faces. She said, "So which is it? Inside or outside?" I said, "Inside, please", only to have her throw the paper menu at my mother

I have been to this place a few times and it has a great atmosphere, perfect during any time of the day or night, sitting indoors or outdoors. There is a great selection of drinks but the food can be a bit hit and miss & pricey but it is definitely worth a try.
From the classics the fish & chips, from the starters the mozzarella ball and all the deserts are always a safe bet!
It tends to be quite busy make sure you book before going and try to get a table next to the window/fireplace if you are visiting in the winter.

Its in a great location and on a summers afternoon watching the swans go by all could be forgiven . However its basically a bit of a plasticy estate type pub . No thats been a bit nasty . Its fine as long as you do not expect great food and beer . Granted its affiliation is Shepherde Neame but sorry thats no longer any recommendation . Time to up their game I think . If this was up north the place would not survive . You get so little for so much down south . Wake up and smell the roses.

Food great if a little pricey but then you do get what you pay for. Drinks are fairly reasonable. Lovely spot by the river, gets pretty busy in the evening during the summer so get there early if there are a few of you.
No idea why there is a photo of The Legion added to this review! Only place you can see The Legion is standing outside the pub.

I've been to the Weyside a couple of times now. On the first occasion service was painfully slow and it was not worth hanging around. On the second occasion it was much better. The pint of Greene King IPA here was good. If anything the whole experience is a little expensive, especially the food. A great location where you can sit outside by the river nontheless. This has now been called the Boatman for some time. Please change name.
