Castle Hill Pre-School is an independent, committee-run, charity pre-school operating in the grounds of Fort Hill site. 1. HCC's Early Years' Education universal funding (EYE 15 hours funding for all 3 and 4 year olds). We are a term time only pre-school, offering two sessions per day with flexible lunch, start and finish times.
At Castle Hill Pre-School, we believe in providing the best possible start to each child's educational journey, in a safe, caring, welcoming environment, where every child is valued for their uniqueness. Include every child; giving them the opportunity to develop their individuality, to build their self-esteem and to reach their full potential in all areas.
Des is the setting's Headteacher and Manager, and has been at Castle Hill since 2005. In addition to the usual administrative duties, and as a qualified teacher, she supports all the practitioners in their goal to ensure that all children are happy and developing to their full potential.

She is responsible for the wellbeing of both the children and the staff members, as well as supporting the Deputy Manager and Room Leader with their roles and responsibilities.Des is also Designated Lead Practitioner responsible for Safeguarding and Child Protection. Rachel joined us in 2014.
Staff share details of learning with them on a daily basis. They offer parents advice about how to continue to support children with their early reading and writing at home. They demonstrate how to maintain a high standard of dental health, for instance, children thoroughly enjoy copying them and cleaning their teeth.
As a non-profit, charity pre-school, we rely on fundraising for developments in our setting. This includes holding fun events for our families, the community, donations, match funding etc. A team from M&S then spent an energetic day at the pre-school, installing these. We are most grateful for our safer, brighter ramp, our new bridge and bench; and the treatment of our wooden outdoor equipment to protect it against the elements.
