Party of 8 hungry adults & 5 kids went on a busy Sunday afternoon, so granted they'd be rushed but they accommodated us. Staff were polite and friendly until we pointed out a few issues; they said vegetarian carvery (nut roast) for 3 people would take about 10 minutes to come out so as there was a long que to get the trimmings etc we joined and collected the other foods. 35 mins later, no nut roast!! Asked again, told 5 more mins...another 15 mins later it arrived. The rest of the party had finished their food by this time. Then the gravy came out another 5 mins later! The 'nut roast' has no nuts

We love their Sunday Roast dinners, it's buffet style so you can select what goes on your plate. Staff are very friendly and helpful, most definitely recommend trying.

Best goulash I had in UK. Cheap beer and good selection of it. I'm looking forward to stop there next time I'll be cycling. Outdoor seating in front and plenty of space in garden. Gorgeous.

Excellent carvery with friendly service. Would get an extra star if the tables and chairs were more restaurant rather than cafe, but will definately be back for more!

Have been going to the woodman for 20 years give or take but it has gone downhill & decor needs updating & also they are skimping on portions now, on a recent family visit my daughter was refused a second Yorkshire which are only the dozen kind & not home made & I asked for beef & turkey & the chef sliced me one slice of each which was so thin it was see through, I went home feeling hungry & the reason for going to a carvery is to get a good roast portion & I will never return to the woodman again so I am on the lookout for a good local carvery if anyone knows

Haven't eaten here but the restaurant is always busy so I presume it's good. I've been many times to the front section that is more of a pub. It's a Greene King pub so serves Abbot and IPA. The beer on a cold winter evening is well kept but freezing! It's also fairly expensive for the area it's in. We miss the Maypole that is almost next door but now closed down.

It is staffed by Eastern Europeans who are always very jolly and attentive but add to the impression that everything is being done on the cheap. The toilets are clean but stink half the pub out with uninal

Went here for the sunday carvery, was busy. Largest turkey I'd ever seen expertly carved (they also had beef and lamb, plus two home made pies - steak and chicken). A very reasonable amount of meat served, help yourself to veg, mash, roast potatoes and gravy. Clearly freshly cooked perhaps a little let down by frozen yorkshire puds. Drinks served at table, carvery self-serve, desert and coffee offered at table.

Very impressed, sunday roast was £9.95, Abbott was £3 and IPA £2.70 bit expensive for around here.

Would go again, very popular considering it's in the middle of nowhere
