Welcome to Shahenshah Indian Tandoori Restaurant & Takeaway, serving the finest Indian cuisine in Hertford and well known for top quality curries. We've been in Hertford since 1988 and is probably the oldest and the best curry house in town, one of Hertfordshire's best. One of the reasons why we're still here today is because our customers who love Indian food, simply keep coming back for more.
What's our secret! Everything we use is of high quality and is freshly made. We use very little oil, colours & ghee, our aim is to keep everything healthy as possible. You can taste the difference in aroma and texture, it will definately put a spark in your taste buds. We specialize in high quality Indian & Bangladeshi cuisine.

Services
Shahenshah Indian Restaurant is a family run business, after emigrating from Bangladesh 1981, we've made Hertford home away from home. Since the launch of Shahenshah Restaurant, In 1988, we've gone from stregth to strength with the support from our loyal customers. They demand the best, we deliver the best.
There is much competition amongst a number of very good Indian restaurants in Hertford. Everybody has their own favourite but this is ours. We try the others from time to time and they're good but we always return to the Shahenshah. I've eaten here many times over the last 10 years when I've been in the Ware/Hertford area.

The food was good - not amazing - but ok. But the stars are for the service. It took forever to get food to our table. Despite being booked in for 5:30, we did not get our food until at least 50 minutes after we ordered. And I believe that was only because we asked where the heck it was. We had a later appointment to get to, so in the end some of us had to leave to get there so we didn't lose our table. It wasn't busy. It was just bad service. Would I return? Nope, sorry I wouldn't.

Very disappointed with the takeaway from Shahenshah this evening. I was hungry a looking for a really satisfying quality curry. Food is not cheap here so you expect quality but instead was bland, no spice or tang, quite greasy and well below average. Cuts of chicken and lamb were ok but the sauce let the meals down. Chicken biriani should contain a wonderful fragrance and taste from multiple spices and the Rogan should have a little bit of a chilli hit. Sadly very lacking in flavour.

The waiters shout when bringing food to the table comes over as bad manners & you pick up on this, unfortunately.
The food is good, but style of service is what you will remember, for the wrong reasons.
Asking for more money in the tip because it wasn't enough is something I have never personally witnessed before!
Why the waiters present such poor qualities when the manager is actually quite personable is beyond me!
Sticking the disabled toilet hand dryer together with tape makes you wonder why a new one hasn't been installed and what the standard of the kitchen is like!
