Every day is different but some things are consistent., we always put the interests and needs of the children at the centre of our planning. Children sit with our key-workers at the table using proper china and cutlery to enjoy beautiful meals cooked from scratch by our in house chef with produce from local suppliers.

Services
We are pleased to say that a nursery has operated from this site for many years. The previous owners ran Moorlands childhood centre which obtained Outstanding from Ofsted. We are very lucky that Sheryl has stayed part of our happy team under our new name of Little Orchard Nursery and Pre-school. Ofsted have approved Little Orchard Nursery and Pre-school for Registration and we are awaiting the grading at their next inspection.
At Little Orchard we have The Acorn Room for children aged 2-3 years. This room is small and can cater for up to 12 children. The Acorn room operates for the morning session and children within this age group join the older children if they stay for the afternoon session. This provides all the children with an opportunity to play with each other and show care and consideration.
Learning within Early Years Education is based on play and we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage ( EYFS ) which emphasises the importance of spending time with the children, getting to know them, rather than spending time doing paperwork. The EYFS has 7 areas of development and learning. Communication and Language is essential for all future learning, well being and resilience.
Our food is cooked and prepared on site using locally sourced produce wherever possible. We currently buy our meat and eggs from Aune Valley Butchers in Loddiswell and (some) of our fruit and vegetables will be grown by the children in the garden. We encourage all our little ones to eat a balanced diet, and to begin to know which foods are healthy and which are treats.
We are a small family run business operating from a converted bungalow within beautiful and large gardens, in South Brent. We feed primary schools in South Brent, Ivybridge, Totnes and Buckfastleigh and offer convenience for commuters between Plymouth and Exeter as we are just off the A38. We have two areas, The Acorn Room, for 2-3 year old children and The Oak Rooms, for 3-5 year old children.
