Thorngumbald Primary School
I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Thorngumbald Primary School in the rural village of Thorngumbald on the edge of the city of Hull. We are all proud of our closely knit and supportive school community whose welcoming and purposeful atmosphere is often commented upon by our visitors. Our children find themselves in a busy and enthusiastic learning environment where there is always much to do, see and learn.

We hope that you will find this website useful, informative and "to the point". You should get a good impression not only of our school's learning ethos but also of daily school life as experienced by the children. Current guidance regarding self-isolation You and your household must continue to self-isolate if you test positive or develop symptoms, for 10 days from the date.
Services
The intent of our History curriculum is to deliver a curriculum which is widely enjoyed by pupils across all year groups, challenging them in their thinking, the way in which they act and the way in which they perceive and relate to others. We firmly believe that History helps children to develop an awareness of themselves and their peers within the context of local, national and international events.
We believe that our school nurtures all of its community on our journey to succeed. We are committed to provide a welcoming, safe and stimulating learning environment enabling our pupils to become lifelong learners and responsible citizens. We recognise that everybody has their own unique strengths and we will work collaboratively to bring out the best in the children and each other.
A school council is group of students who are elected to represent the views of all pupils and to improve their school. The school council at Thorngumbald Primary School is made up of two children from each class who are elected by their peers. By each class electing their representatives it reflects the British democracy we live in.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, we have made available the below documents to give you further advice and information.
SATs are statutory assessments carried out by all state schools. They assess how your child's abilities compare nationally and with other children in the same year group. Your child will be assessed at KS2 during Year6 in May. They are marked externally and the results sent to schools. Before the end of the summer term, your child's school will send you a report.

Look at their posts. They are lovely. It was great from 1975 to 1981 when I was there.
