If you are exempt we do ask if you can wear a mask during your time in the testing room at least, as you will be within 2 meters of our Optometrists at times during your examination. To keep everyone safe we are limiting the amount of patients in our practice, at one time.

As our Lead Optometrist, Claire is a natural communicator, with a real interest in both her profession and our patients. Claire graduated in Optics in 1991 and completed her professional exams the following year. She completed a postgraduate degree in 1998 and also specialiss in Diabetic Retinopathy, Dry Eye Assessment, Visual Stress, Cataract Screening and Independent Prescribing.
The future of Myopia is statistically quite grim. By 2050 it is estimated there will be 4758 million people with myopia (49.8% of the world population). Myopia is also known by the name 'short-sight'. It means that you might have great microscopes (your eyes see clearly up close), but your telescopes need some help (seeing further away).
This includes repairs and adjustments of spectacles. We will contact all patients who have contact lenses or spectacles or order to book a collection appointment. We have been going to Thomas Carter for years, all 4 members of our family wear glasses. The service is exceptional. Only yesterday I popped in because I had lost an arm off one of my pairs of specs and rather than have me go to the expense of a new pair, as i hadn't long had a new prescription put in my existing glasses, Joanne found 2 spare arms and added them to my frame! Nothing is ever too much trouble.....and they are all working so hard during during the current climate. Thanks guys!!!!👏👏👏👏

I love working here and I am reviewing Claire's practice as a member of staff. I have met many lovely people who have been coming to this practice for years. Claire and the Team have spent the last 13 years giving a service that is unparalleled. I had previously worked for a bigger chain opticians and I can't harp on enough about how much I appreciate being able to spend proper time with patients and our community.

Attended Tomas Carter Opticians last week. I must say first impressions are everything to me and oh boy was that what I got, PERFECTION. From walking in and being greeted offered a drink, to leaving, nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. All through the eye test the optician explained why and what he was doing, keeping me informed but also relaxed. Moving on to the glasses. I was informed glasses start from £10 to £500 but no pressure to purchase, it was left up to me to choose. I would recommend Thomas Carter Opticians 100% i could not fault them. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC.

Just visited the team for my annual check up and sight test. As always thorough and highly professional testing by Claire Thomas Carter with some great advice. With lots of choice of different frames, I chose two lovely pairs of glasses that suited my face perfectly. I can highly recommend this practice to anyone. You always get a lovely welcome there from all the team.

The whole team at Thomas Carter Opticians are so helpful, friendly and professional. Their premises are inviting & comfortable, and the girls at the front always greet you with a smile. The team really seem to have enjoy their work!
Since I signed up with them, they have helped me find some really comfortable contact lenses for my astigmatism, as well as some great rimless frames that I wanted. They always help me get my paperwork filled in for my Health Cash Plan too, so that I can claim my costs back.

I recently purchased a pair of Ray-Ban Sunglasses from Thomas Carter Opticians.
All of the staff that I dealt with were very pleasant to deal with. I really couldn't have asked for better service.

Absolutely fantastic, I've been here to get my eyes tested and left feeling loved and catered for, dare I say even pampered - the staff are very lovely and attentive, they will go out of their way to make you happy and the professionalism of their work is astounding.
I've never received this kind of care before for my eyes, they really do listen and they are amazing for choosing what is right for you. If you feel a bit independant, they will listen and try to find something which is personally right for you.

Lovely family friendly practice. I was made to feel very welcome and offered a cup of tea as soon as I walked in. Thomas-Carters is a very different experience to other opticians I have been to over the years. The staff spent so much time with me and I left feeling like I was important and valued. I would definitely recommend this opticians.
