Lydney Golf Club is a modern 9 hole parkland course next to the River Severn on the edge of beautiful Forest of Dean. Founded in 1909, the Club celebrated it's Centenary in 2009 and moved to it's new course in Naas Lane in 2011, the newly built 9 hole course constructed to USGA standard with a fully automated sprinkler system and over 3,500 trees planted is fast becoming one of the premier courses in the area.
The course is a difficult course to play as many visitors will find to their cost. The greens are exceptionally challenging with more undulations than most. The Club is famous for it's camaraderie and good food in the fully equipped clubhouse that can cater for our members, guests and visiting golfers either individually or in parties up to around 40.

First time to play this course as I drove over from Newport. Very friendly welcome from members in clubhouse who helpfully explained course layout. The scorecard would benefit from a map but do as I did a snap a photo on mobile of course plan in club house.
Course was very wet, but so is everywhere else. New course laid down in last ten years I think. Lots of trees are saplings and it will be a much improved looking layout when they put a few more years growth on. Interesting holes nevertheless with some good placing of ponds. My Garmin watch bore no relation to hole distances so I imagine it
