Pilcrow Pub
We've had 5 incredible years at The Pilcrow, but our role in the stewardship of the pub that Manchester built has come to an end. From the moment we and our friends at Cloudwater first opened the doors to this beautiful little building, it has been a real joy to play a part in crafting a community around Sadler's Yard.

There were over 500 volunteers that contributed to its construction, furbishment, and launch, and we'd like to think that we've honoured the work put in by those people during our time in charge. There have been many highlights - our annual festival, Summer Beer Thing, maybe being the one that stands out most in the memory.
Services
We are a contemporary pub situated at Sadlers Yard, Manchester. Crafted by the people of Manchester, we're a neighbourhood bar located a stones throw from Manchester Arena and Victoria Station. Whilst we sell fantastic modern & seasonal beers, wines & mixed drinks we also have loose leaf teas and locally sourced filtered coffee from Ancoats Coffee plus sandwiches, pastries, sweet & savory baked goods.

Cool place with a DIY ethic as mentioned in other reviews. Great selection of keg beer (and a few cask), sandwiches and bar snacks. January bottled beer sale in effect on this visit. Range of wines available for the non-beer drinker in your group.

The pub Manchester built......

I visited Pilcrow during its launch night the other night - located in Sadler's Yard. As well as being a lovely pub, its a great idea. The pub was all built by hand with the help of many volunteers in various workshops.

Unfortunately I was not able make it to any of the workshops as they sold out so quickly. It was a great idea for people to be involved in a project, learn new skills and help connect the community with the local space/area.

The pub is made from wood around a steel frame and, also Michael B has mentioned, has a Scandinavian feel.

When all you seem to hear these days is news of pubs closing down, it was both a relief and with massive excitement last year to learn that Manchester was getting a new one.

And not an old, derelict building being turned back into a boozer, but a brand new, hand-built pub, to be created with help from community volunteers.

So after what seems like many months of anticipation, much toil (by the project team) and lots of interesting workshops to get involved with (from gathering willow in a Stockport country park to use for hanging baskets, to creating ceramic tiles for the bar or spinning wood
