My practice is based on the belief that everyone has the right to contentment. I offer support, warmth and space to explore what this means to you, safely and without judgement. I have been a counsellor since 2003 and practice as a Person-Centred Integrative Therapist. Being integrative means different models of Counselling may be used, so it is not a one size fits all approach.
Would it help to know more about Counselling? Counselling is a talking therapy based on one person (the counsellor) giving time, space and opportunity to the other (the client). For the client, it is about being listened to and valued for the person that you are - even if you do not know who that is right now.
For some people they know or have a sense of what they want to bring to Counselling as their difficulties can be linked directly to a particular life event or issue. This does not mean that if your issue is not on the list you can't come in! Often I see people who can't really categorize their feelings quite so easily but they just have a sense that they don't feel themselves and they need to do something about it.
Self harm occurs when a person's emotions simply become too big to handle or too overwhelming to contain. A bit like a volcano about to explode if it doesn't get a release.
