My name is Josephine Tevendale. I decided to start Mandarin Massage after several years in China practising Tui Na physical therapy followed by studying Complementary Therapies in the UK. My unique blend of eastern and western techniques delivers a relaxing uplifting experience alongside reduction in pain and improvement in general health.
Mandarin Massage strives to provide positive results and high client satisfaction. My treatment room is located in the delightful village of Clive, surrounded by tranquil Shropshire countryside away from urban stress and strain, yet only fifteen minutes from the county town of Shrewsbury. As a professionally qualified therapist all my treatments are entirely therapeutic and non-sexual in nature; clients remain draped throughout.

Tui Na is a manipulative physical therapy practice developed over thousands of years and now in everyday use in Chinese hospitals and clinics. Today, Tui Na is subdivided into specialized treatment for infants, adults, orthopaedics, traumatology, rehabilitation and sports medicine. In the West, it is still relatively unknown but is taught at some TCM and acupuncture centres in the UK, Europe and USA.
Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the belief that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which are believed to correspond to all organs and parts of the body. By stimulating these reflexes we believe the body then responds by identifying imbalances within the body's systems, rebalances and begins to heal.
Aromatherapy uses the concentrated essential oils of various plants for therapeutic purposes. While commonly associated with pleasant applications for beauty and general relaxation, essential oils have complex chemical components that, like herbs, have medicinal properties that affect the body in a variety of ways.
There are five basic strokes recognised, duration and use of each is determined by your requirements. Effleurage consists of making long and gliding strokes along the body and is probably the most commonly used move. It helps you relax, reduces tension and stress levels and also increases circulation.
This is often combined with Head Massage. Whilst primarily designed as a health rather than beauty treatment, your skin quality and texture will improve due to pores closing, skin will feel smoother to the touch. After discussions on your initial visit your medical history and lifestyle is noted and the treatment designed around your specific needs and goals.
