Stay at Strand House, our fabulous holiday home, for the treat you deserve. Relax and soak up the cosy feeling of a home from home, in a historic house with 6 individual and intimate ensuite guestrooms. Take long walks on the beach, or indulge in lazy evenings in a romantic setting and soak up an authentic taste of Medieval history in a house over 700 years old.

Strand House is a unique 700 year old building with 6 guest rooms, all different, all quirky. There is a sitting room with large inglenook fireplace, comfy sofas and roaring log fire in the winter. Another small sitting room at the rear of the house. Strand House dates back to the 14th century with low oak beamed ceilings in many of the rooms, winding stairs, inglenook fireplaces in both the lounge and dining room and leaded windows.
Services
The hotel dates from the 14th Century making it even older than the famous Mermaid Hotel in Rye, Sussex. It was a hospital inhabited by monks and was added to in the 15th Century when it was the village workhouse. Close to the Cinque Ports of Rye and Winchelsea, the hotel is full of period detail with has low oak beamed ceilings in many of the rooms, winding stairs, inglenook fireplaces in both the lounge and dining room, leaded windows.
Strand House offers privacy, comfort and elegance exclusively to private groups of friends, family or colleagues. We allow two well behaved dogs for an additional fee of 25 per dog, providing that they are kept on a lead whilst in the grounds, because the garden is not fully enclosed and we ask that you do not allow them on the furniture or upstairs in the bedrooms.
Rye and its surrounding area has a huge range of attractions ranging from Sissisnghurst Garden to Bodiam Castle and the miniature railway at Romney. If you are planning a short break there are plenty of attractions to visit and places to eat while you stay at Strand House. Rye Town - full of little shops, tea rooms and winding street with old buildings and a Castle.
Coast walks - along the sea shore to Fairlight or along the Royal Military Canal to Pett Level or to Camber castle. The Saxon Shore Way is a longer walk to Kent or Eastbourne. A short trip takes you to the eerie desolation of Dungeness. Cycling - Romney March and its unique local churches with steeples on the ground beside the church.

The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation, despite having thin walls, was charming and well situated. Lovely breakfast capped off our stay, and we felt we got great value for money.

My husband and I had a wonderful one night stay on Good Friday at this beautiful little Boutique Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, our room and en suite were tastefully furnished (esp as I love and work with interiors) and spotlessly clean with a stunning view onto fields and rabbits! We were staying with our 2 dogs who were each given a sausage for breakfast ;-) My daughter also joined us at the last minute and again this was no problem. Hugh, the owner, was delightful.

We received a warm welcome from our hosts and shown to our room which was outstanding. The room was clean, cosy and had wonderful views. Plenty of choice on offer for breakfast. We had an afternoon tea which was delicious and just what we needed after a long cold day walking around Rye. The day was finished off in front of the roaring log fire in the lounge.
We cannot thank Mary and Hugh enough for making our brief stay with them so pleasurable. We would highly recommend this charming hotel to anyone.

Had a very nice couple of days stay here, with our little dog. The room we had was very pleasant which had a little private outside patio with table and chairs and views over a field with sheep and bunnies. Staff are very accomodating and welcoming too.
