Our preschool is situated within the grounds of the Bishop William Ward School in Great Horkesley, a beautiful rural village on the outskirts of Colchester. We offer preschool places to children aged 12 months to 5 years old, and have a weekly Stay and Play session for all local families to learn and play together.
We accept Government 3-4 Year Funding for children from the term after they turn three years old and we are also registered to accept 2 Year Funding. Our ethos is 'learning through play'. Our children are offered a broad range of activities and many holistic opportunities, where they can develop and learn to share and work together.

Services
Tiddlywinks Preschool is an Ofsted registered childcare provider for children aged 12 months to rising 5 years old, based within the grounds of Bishop William Ward Primary School in Great Horkesley, on the outskirts of Colchester. We are a fully inclusive preschool, providing an equality rich environment.
I enjoy spending time with friends and in my spare time, I'm usually reading a book or taking a walk. I completed my Childcare Level 3 Diploma in 2012 and I am now finishing my final year of my BA (Hons) Early Years degree. I have two miniature dachshunds, called Frankie and Benny. I enjoy holidays and meals out with friends and family.
Every child has a personal 'Learning Journey', which records photos, observations and comments and builds up a record of their learning and experiences during their time with us. We use EYLog, an online system hosted in the UK on secure servers. Parents are able to log in to their child's Learning Journey to view and comment on photos and observations made within the setting.
During each morning and afternoon session we offer healthy snacks, milk and water at our snack bar, which is freely open to the children to access for a period of one hour. We end each session with circle time and story time. Lunch club is a social time for the children to sit and eat their lunch together.
We accept 3-4 Year Government Funding. Once you have used your maximum of 15 funded hours per week, across any childcare setting, there is a charge of 14.50 per 3-hour session. To qualify for the extended hours, each parent (or the sole parent in a single parent family) will need to earn, on average, the equivalent of 16 hours on the national minimum wage per week (currently 107 per week), and no more than 100,000 per year.
