I used to stay at this hotel regularly and always looked forward to my monthly stays there. it's pandemic related decline was sad to see.
The hotel is unmanned during the week however staff will flexibly arrange a time to check you in.
You need to order a breakfast box if you need breakfast. As there us no evening meal resturants are within close proximity or you can order your evening meal from a resturant with no difficulty.
The bedroom was lovely and clean but the hotel has lost some of its charm and character and this is exacerbated as there are no staff to interact with. I imagine this

Easy to get to, great location, on site parking, funny, friendly and welcoming staff, awesome cocktails, very spacious rooms, comfy bed, clean bathroom. Didn't get to eat but the food but that looked amazing too. The owner was also incredibly welcoming, and sat and had a drink and a chat with me and my partner on our first night.

What a great place, I went in on a Sunday, and was cooked a great dinner that was not even on the menu that day. I highly recommend this hotel for its attention to detail with its decor, it has class, the food is fantastic, and a lovely friendly family running it. I’m a picky person, but this place exceeded all my expectations.

Second visit. Shame we live 140 miles away! Great evening meal, interesting menu, well cooked and presented, outside tables available so dog welcomed. Hotel owners Gez and Rosie very friendly and interesting to talk to, knowledgeable about the building's history and that of Thomas Paine for whom the hotel is named.

Stayed at the thomas Paine hotel for a weekend away and what can I say it was just lovely!! The room was tastefully done with beautiful wallpaper and antique velvet chairs. And the food my goodness was like a piece of art ,the chef Rosy had also come out to see us and explained everything about the food and that it was homemade in the hotel with local produce. Moreover, a massive thank you to everyone for making mine and my wife’s stay wonderful !
