Was being given afternoon tea for a large group of people, which could've been the issue for the staff. Food came out 40 minutes late even after booking beforehand and staff having to count numbers over and over before starting to make the food. Finally came out and we were one whole person serving down of everything. We were told to go around all the tables and "find it ourselves". Staff were so rude about the situation. Then when paying we were giving a foul attitude and complete rudness. Seems they can't handle a large group of people, got too flustered. Never again.

Disappointed upon arrival when two staff members just carried on discussing hotel business instead of attending to new clients, which was very rude.
Sunday roast - plenty of tender meat, lovely Yorkshire pudding and tasty gravy, but veg all squashed together in dish which got cold very quickly. Vegetarian Wellington pastry was not cooked right through, so inedible, but was not charged for dessert to compensate.
Generally breakfasts were super and good variety.

We stayed here as part of a wedding gathering. We were very warmly welcomed. The room was a double and decorated neutral. We did find that there were 2 lights out in the bathroom but switching the light on over the sink solved the dimness problem. The furnishings and carpets have probably seen their best days. We did have a fabulous sleep so no further comments on that. Breakfast fell a little short of expectations as everything really quite greasy, the bacon was really undercooked and there was no toast on offer just croissants. The hostess was a little confrontational to some of the other guests

We went here for Afternoon tea for a friend's 40th birthday. The staff were all very polite and helpful. We took down a helium balloon, napkins and table confetti earlier in the day which was all laid out for us when we arrived. The afternoon tea was excellent and enjoyed by all. We had a very lovely afternoon at the Riverside, thank you to everyone. We will definitely be back again soon.

We selected this Hotel because of its riverside and very high rated comments of previous visitors. We could not have been more satisfied with our choice; the friendly, helpful and considerate staff were so impressive, the lounges and bar areas were smart and restful and the meals were excellent if too much food. Congratulations Marge, Sue etc you made our stay very happy.
