There were several Chantry Chapels in the grounds of the Abbey. The Chantry hotel stands on the site of a Chantry chapel, which dates back to the 12th century. The main building is essentially Georgian and is adjoined by houses over four hundred years old, one of which has been incorporated into the hotel as the Tudor annexe.

We had an overnight stay in a lovely room in the Tudor annexe. Exposed beams and uneven floors gave the room the required character. There were the odd cobwebs dotted around in deep corners, between the beams and the fireplace which were perhaps a feature too far though. The bed linen was fantastically crisp and white, lovely to get into. The breakfast was good as well, car park a little tight if you have a large car.
