Y Sospan
Y Sospan dates back to the 1606, tucked away from the main square in the old town of Dolgellau. Y Sospan is full of character from it original slate floor to the old jail door that leads to our large restaurant with it big fire place and it hand design peace up above. The large restaurant is perfect for dinner parties as it can seat up to 50 people.

Y Sospan is the perfect place to go with friend for morning coffee & breakfast, to working lunches or take away meals if you have no time to stop. There is always a large selection of homemade cakes and tea or coffee how ever you like it as a treat after walking the beautiful surrounding mountings.

We had beef lasagnas, both delicious and reasonable portion/price. Decent service and seating. We were asked to pay upfront, which in all honesty we weren’t sure if that was just us being labelled, or if that was their process. If our tab was left open we might have been encouraged to order cake/coffees after our meal. Otherwise was much needed, enjoyable post-walk grub.

Great place full of history and the food is superb. Local produced cooked to perfection. Good selection of cakes to enjoy with coffee or tea. We stopped for lunch and had their baguettes which were exceptional.

Amazing building, set in an old jailhouse (downstairs) and a courthouse (upstairs) where they have lots of seating. Food is lovely and have local beers and spirits, staff are friendly. Would recommend

Absolutely outstanding food, we had the steak and lamb and both were just perfectly crafted and were hearty portions as we were both genuinely full afterwards. We make good food at home ourselves but this was on another level. Apologies for the photo that was taken halfway through eating the lamb! P.s the dog loved the lamb bone afterwards!

Rustic and cosy inside the restaurant. Food was okay. Sticky toffee pudding was good as it was not overly sweet. Staff were all very friendly and prompt in their service (but it was not crowded that day).

Wasn't expecting much to be fair ,but was actually impressed with the lunch I had.( Lamb in Pitta.) Was far better than a previous lamb meal in Aberystwyth at a place called Medina. Well done. The Mrs enjoyed her ham salad too

The facility is very welcoming and the staff are very friendly. They squeezed us in as soon as they could. Much appreciated. The food was well served at a very decent price. The main cause looked amazing but unfortunately was over seasoned with way to much salt. Now having to deal with ulcers.

Very rustic and cozy place. Waited for some time to be seated whilst the place didn't seem so busy and there was 3 members of staff available. Once seated it didn't take long to be served. Ordered vegan breakfast which was nice, however mushroom portion consisted of two mushrooms 😆 it could be more.. Clean facilities and reasonable pricing.

I had the Pork tenderloins with apricots and shallots with pulled pork, dauphinoise potatoes and a cider reduction. Seriously, this dish isabsolutely amazing. Top 5 meals easily and great atmosphere and fantastic service. What a treat.

This is a traditional restaurant. By day it provides a cafe/bistro menu, in the evenings it provides a good range of modern Welsh dishes. The service is good, the ambience pleasant, and the surroundings cosy.
The pork rarebit is recommended.

Nice little bistro style cafe/restaurant in the old jailhouse (1606!) easy to find in the centre of town.
Good varied menu - local produce, recommended!
