There are many excellent gyms within the world of kickboxing but only one can claim the unique flavour of Belfast's Prokick. Billy Murray began his Martial Arts training in the mid 1970's and started training fighters at the start of the 1980's in Tullycarnet Community Centre, at his first Ju-Jitsu club.
Murray went on to open his first full-time Gym, Newtownards Martial Arts centre in Pound Street in 1985. He then moved to Switzerland in 1990 to enhance his kickboxing career. On his return, at the end of 1991, the Prokick gym, a fitness, self-defence and fight stable, was set-up in east Belfast. Over the course of the last 30 years Prokick has certainly lived up to it's reputation as being the 'Home of Champions.'

I have no hesitation in recommending Prokick to anyone who is either a novice or someone wishing to enhance thier skills in kickboxing. The coaching under the tutelage of Mr. Bill Murray (former multiple world champion) is superb and as good as it gets. Both the staff and other members of the team are welcoming and always helpful, which creates an amazing atmosphere in the gym. Mindful of Covid 19 the gym was always thoroughly and meticulously cleaned/disinfected. If you haven't tried I strongly suggest you do, you won't be disappointed.

Trained here a few years ago, I found the teaching to be sub par and the facilities to be laughably bad. There is no air conditioning or heat so it's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I found the trainer to be quite rude and abrupt. I've studied at several martial arts establishments over the years and I found this to be the worst by far.

I love it here. I spent many years doing martial arts such as Tai-jutsu, Boxing, some Aikido and even Kickboxing with other associations. Ever since I moved to Belfast I had trouble finding somewhere I wanted to dedicate my time to but I found Prokick and after completing the Beginner courses I find myself going every week. Billy is fantastic, he never misses a thing and ensures everyone participates and will help anyone improve their technique and fitness. In fact, everyone you train with is usually friendly and will offer each other advice or motivate you. The classes are a very good price for

Great old school gym run by Mr Billy Murray. Very respectful teachers & students. Classes taught professionally and they are hard work but also fun. If kick boxing or getting fit is what you want then look no further than here. The gym is old school in a corrugated shed but this just adds to the charm of the place. I'm hoping to be back here in 2018 for some training.
