William Davis is a small and inclusive family school, situated in Shoreditch. Our school has high aspirations whilst maintaining a caring, family-orientated culture. At William Davis we have worked hard to create a rich, well organised curriculum for our children. Rather than just letting subjects drive the curriculum, we felt that it should be the needs of our children that should determine the emphasis. To do this, we established some key 'drivers' for our school.
Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at school. Everything else depends on it, so we put as much energy as we possibly can into making sure that every single child learns to read as quickly as possible. We want your child to love reading - and to want to read for themselves.
English lessons are well- embedded within our thematic curriculum. Teachers use carefully chosen quality fiction texts that support the children's learning in other subject areas. The texts act as the stimulus to teach pupils to speak and write fluently, so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others.
At William Davis we aim to provide a high-quality maths education - teaching children the essential skills and knowledge to develop an understanding of the world and to create a natural curiosity and love for maths as a subject.
