*flips over price tag* what?? £18 for a used tank top?? Are you insane? *flips over price tag* £25 for this jumper?
Anyway, the staff were very friendly and everything looked organized and clean. Nice lit up area as well, looked very welcoming and the clothing was true vintage. I'd totally buy from them if they were not £££ overpriced.
I figured I could get $5 and $10 deals for this kind of stuff in L train vintage back home, and after the pound conversions to USD it was ridiculous, so I decided not to browse anymore after doing my signature flipping of price tags.

When this shop first came about, I thought... Wow this is cool!!!!!!
Now.. I just think it's a over priced charity shop. Some of the clothes are really cool! Back in the day I have bought many checked shirts and oversized jumpers from there. Now, I don't tend to shop there, mainly because of the price and also because everyone else 'who think their alternative and different' also shop there!
I hate it when different clothes get all commercial and you get EVERYONE wearing the same thing it. Beyond retro clothes attract the type of person with black skinny jeans, rolled up

Before Beyond Retro opened last year, there was a small selection of vintage shops/boutiques available to the shop-a-holics and second hand lovers in Brighton, and although there were gems to be had, there was also a lot of junk around. Beyond Retro has turned that on it's head.
A giant warehouse of vintage treats - dresses, boots, shoes, hats, jumpsuits, jackets and trousers, for both men and women (and sometimes babies!), the store has everything you could possibly need from the past under one roof. I needed (or wanted) a floral play suit - I found it in here. A friend who was down from

This second-hand megastore is pure Brighton, featuring the best and brightest in vintage attire. With branches in London and Stockholm the selection is vast and the displays and mannequins really sell themselves. There are sofas and with vintage Playboy magazines for bored boyfriends like me, and the music is suitably period-vogue. The gear isn't bargain basement cheap, but the selection is well-chosen enough to justify the price. Dresses go for around £20, and there's an abundance of waistcoats, knitwear, shoes, bags and scarves. They also put on in-store live bands on selected nights

Brighton is full of so called vintage shops that offer little more than over priced cast offs and mass produced items designed to look aged and rare.
Thankfully, Beyond Retro is anything but that. Here you will find a fantastic collection of stylish and individual items, organised and presenented in a way that generates connotations of french boutiques.
In terms of pricing, of course you're going to be paying a bit extra, but once you step inside and look around, you know it is worth it.

Good old Beyond Retro: officially the coolest clothes shop in Brighton, and if there isn't some poll somewhere, it has easily won this award, judging by how many Brightonians sport their often-eccentric threads. Basically the biggest second-hand shop you've ever seen, Beyond Retro specialises in eccentric and cool older styles of clothing: from the 50s through to the 90s, there seems to be something here for everybody!
Well, I say that, but there was nothing there for me: the note is made in one of the reviews below: there is sod-all for the flamboyant gentleman, save some really eccentric

It's big, it's vintage, and if you have been to the London one you have probably seen it all before. I like vintage style, but these days I am pro production as nothing ever seems to fit me that well, and the cut of clothes is despairingly under estimated on the British High Street. We need more practical and cool fashionistas in old blighty! Like most this store is better for womenswear, but for all it is probably the best in vintage wear around and you will most probably come up trumps with something, hopefully it fits.

Beyond retro...so La Belle Époque?
Everybody was raving about Beyond Retro, telling me how cool it was then forgetting where it actually was, I see would people in The Laines with their Willy Wonka styled magical yellow bags revealing their knowledge of the location.
When I eventually made it to Beyond Retro I was wowed. Then I sauntered in and around the corner saw the glorious expanse, I was overwhelmed.
It should have been a good thing, this huge warehouse but I wasn't feeling it. Flicking through knitwear rails I kept looking over my shoulder, depressed at all the opportunity and selection

Yes. Yes. YES!!! No longer must I trawl all the way up to the east end of London to visit my favourite vintage shop! Ideally located just off the Lanes and sticking with their signature warehouse style, Beyond Retro has finally made the bold (and oh so sensible) move to expand outside of London, and how thankful we are!
In a similar spirit to the London stores, this place is full of vintage clothes and shoes of all varieties for men and women. Get lost in rails of day wear, evening wear, fancy dress and more. What I like so much about Beyond Retro is that they really pack it in- there's

It's like being transported to Brooklyn or the East Village walking into the brand new vintage warehouse that is Beyond Retro. On a quiet sidestreet just round the corner from Bill's the transformation of this tennis court sized warehouse space into a shop is genius. And I have long been hoping that someone would see the potential in some of the old industrial spaces hiding in some of Brighton's centre ville backstreets. This Beyond Retro is exhaustive- you could well spend the best part of a day if actually went through all the rails- and presented in a fantastic urban way with

The genie must have listened to one of my wishes because Beyond Retro have finally opened a store in Brighton!
It's not just a tiny two up, two down on Sydney Street either, it's a huge, L-shaped building on Vine Street. Today being Halloween, I walked in to find the foyer piled high with amazing fancy dress costumes, wigs and masks. It was walking around the corner and seeing the racks of retro skirts, shirts, blouses, jumpers, jackets, coats and yup - cowboy boots - that made my heart truly skip a beat though.
There was no boots in my size but the good news is, they are open 7 days
