Stayed here for one night on a cold winters nights. After being out during the day, got to the hotel and checked into the room, only to find tha the room was like an ice box. The radiator that was in the room wasn’t hot. There was a portable heater which kept on turning itself off so didn’t heat the room up. The bathroom was also very cold and no enjoyable to be in there for too long, there was fan heater in there, but it didn’t help much. The only time i got warm was when i got in to bed, and then it was a struggle to get back out because it was so cold. The shower was hot which was a good

Our 2 night stay was ok .The photos of rooms on website are very deceiving ...the bedding was crisp white and clean but the room had dust /cobwebs. The bin wasnt emptied throughout our stay .The bathroom was discusting..we had small coffee cups for our tea in morning. The breakfast was extra @ £8.95 each which is wrong and not stated on the website details. We only stayed as meeting family so weren't in the room apart from sleep and showers .we would not stay there again which is a shame as the pub itself was really very nice and the food looked good

If you're coming for drinks then this place is great. The drinks are at a cheap price but still are to a good standard. However, if you are wanting food then maybe look elsewhere. Again the price of the food isn't bad but personally thought all of it was very bland. Overall, I will be coming back again for drinks.

First time here. Note they stop serving food at 9PM and by 8:45 they were only taking limited orders--I have no idea what the menu looks like as I was not offered one. I asked for a large fish & chips. The portion was ample, breading, crispy without being overly greasy. The mushy peas were respectfully electric-green and though a bit dry were some of the better mushy peas I've had with F&C. The inn appears to have a large number of locals and the wait-staff seems a bit undermanned and inattentive. (I didn't feel particularly welcome nor did there seem to be any rush to fill

I have a work lunch here every few months and I've yet to be disappointed.
After a fairly recent refurbishment, it's a warm, welcoming pub with a real wood burning stove and a friendly atmosphere. The owners have done a great job in its transformation from dingy local bar, to cosy hotel.
The food is good, home cooked fare. Steak and ale pie, macaroni cheese, scampi and chips; exactly what you want from a local village pub. I haven't sampled the drinks, but it seems like it would have a reasonable selection.
It has outdoor seating at the front and back, and also has a decent size

This place's name change and re-decoration a couple of years ago have certainly taken it into the 21st century. I've eaten here in the recent past too and can safely say that the food is of a standard to match the gastro-feel of the bar interior.
Whether due to the tax on the price of a pint or down to what brewers charge you're not paying markedly less than in the centre of Edinburgh seven miles to the East, unlike you might expect from it's more rural location. A round in a smilar establishment in the West of Scotland or in the North East of England would be a different ballgame
