My partner and I went for the Boxing Day Carvery. Although all the staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming, the food was average at best and we felt not worth the £70 pre-paid menu, plus drink(s) were required to be bought on top. Also, the ambiance seemed jumbled and not that festive, all emphasised by us only staying for an hour for the whole meal. Extremely disappointed and will not be recommending.

2 night stay for 2.
Warm friendly welcome at check-in. Now it's at this point it's worth noting that this hotel is an older listed building, albeit with modern amenities. At the time of our visit it was going through a fair bit of restoration. (Some rooms included.)
Fortunately we were on first floor, as lift was out of order. (no drama for us)
We were accommodated at rear of hotel. The room was a double + single but was clean & warm & although the decor was a tad tired, we actually like this about old style hotels.
We had D/B+B both days & must point out the food was way above our expectations

Listed as a 3 star hotel. Staff work very hard bringing top service to visitors.
Public areas are pretty fair condition, ourvroom was a bit " tired" and in need of a bit more time being spent in housekeeping.
This Hotel given a bit more "tender loving care" could re- gain its 4 star rating.
Thanks for your services on our stay and good luck in your way upward again.

Very tired, our room was quite dirty in places. We had a suite for a special occasion. Half the furniture was missing, what was there was either inadequate, uncomfortable or so battered it needed to be skipped.
Broken window frames, unable to close properly, flaking paint, spiders and cobwebs all over the windows obviously not cleaned regularly. (Really large spider camping out next to the loo 😱)
Wall paper peeling off in places. One window blind broken.
Somewhat stingy with the kettle provisions, and many more issues. Was not anywhere near the advertised standard.

My husband and I had a two night stay in August 2021 to celebrate my birthday. It was excellent. Friendly staff, great ambience in the lounge and bar area and comfortable furniture. The castle gardens are nice for a gentle stroll. The Polish Map of Scotland in the grounds is very interesting. The spa offers very relaxing treatments and the wee swimming pool is very inviting.
