The Kingsknowes Hotel is an imposing Scottish baronial mansion, built in 1869 for the local textile mill owner, Adam Lees Cochrane. It was sympathetically converted into an Hotel in the 1960s, managing to retain much of the delicate elegance and charm of the original features, and furnished comfortably with its heritage in mind.
The Hotel has twelve individually furnished en suite guest bedrooms, including a family room, the Scott Suite and various other standard and superior double/twin rooms. Located off the A7, between Galashiels, Melrose and Selkirk, the Kingsknowes Hotel is situated in five acres of carefully tended gardens above the banks of the river Tweed.

Had the venison stew. But if you know hospitality you can tell it was bought in bulk from brakes 3663 food supply. The pickled onions in the stew were a dead give away. But it was presented well.
Could not fault the front of house team they were 5 stars and above. Hats off to them all. And sorry for the 2 star only because meals not made in house and bought in pre made ping.

There is not one thing that's not simply stunning about the he Kingsknowes Hotel. Location is easy to get to set against the beautiful Scottish countryside.
The rustic aesthetic perfectly pairs with the regality and charm of the inside of the hotel. The large, warm and well priced rooms are finished to a high standard. All the staff are very helpful and happy with masks all round to make the guests feel safe and welcome.
The morning breakfast brings more pleasure as tucking into the classic Kingsknowes Scottish breakfast makes for a cracking start to the day.
I look forward to my next stay at

An excellent lunch, and reasonably priced. I had the steak sandwich, and the steak was still pink in the middle and so tasty. However, when I saw the chicken Caesar salad at the next table my tongue was hanging out !
Have been before in the evening, and the beef cheeks on that occasion, were superb.
Will definitely be back .

Large red sandstone Victorian gothic hotel on the outskirts of Galashiels. The hotel is a very popular place for weddings, and they have a beautiful conservatory at the back of the hotel much used for wedding receptions.
There are 2 different eating styles, either bar food in the Courtyard Bar, or a la carte in the restaurant. The bar food is good, although the setting is a bit 'ordinary' compared to the rest of the hotel. Usual bar meals - fish and chips, steak pie, roast dinners, salmon etc, all freshly cooked and served by friendly and helpful bar staff. They have a good selection
