A truly wonderful primary school. Staff and the school community really does feel like an extension of our family. Staff are caring, approachable and always have the children's best interests at heart. The head teacher is one of a kind, always taking time out to get to know the children, supporting and encouraging their primary school journey.

Would have had 5 Stars until a few months ago. The head teacher is more concerned about the attendance figures than your child’s welfare. After my child being ill a few times we were summoned to see the head teacher to discuss why! We declined as there was nothing to discuss as he was ill. Other parents who had kept their children off school because they were on holiday were NOT subject to the same treatment. Even after sending letters to the head teacher and the chairman of the governors (which we don’t think was even replied to by the chairman of the governors, but the school) they failed

My son has really excelled at this school and they have fully supported him educationally and socially. He is a summer born child and needed help to develop his maturity and SJM were fabulous. They care about every child. We moved whilst in year 6 and he really misses all his teachers and the head. His new school is nowhere near as good!
I am also chair of governors and am proud to represent this school.

Fabulous school! Been a parent here for 16 years! My 20 year old and 15 year old still love coming back and seeing all the fabulous, committed teachers, and my 10 year old is dreading leaving next year. Can’t praise the team highly enough for everything they’ve done and do to create happy, caring children with a cracking academic start in life! Thanks Team SJM!

What a wonderful, beautiful school we have in the lovely village of Appleby Magna. As great as the building is, the staff within it are too. Teaching is exemplary with a balance of theory and practical styles. Extra curricular activites are provided during breaktimes and after school. Fantastic school trips are arranged along with fetes, school discos and fun times. I would find it hard to find another school as outstanding as this with the caring, kind staff within it.

Excellent school! All the staff from the head, teachers, support and office staff have the well-being and happiness of the children as their absolute focus. Children are supported, listened to, challenged to excel in their learning and are taught valuable life lessons like resilience, kindness and determination. As a parent, I can't imagine a better environment for my children to learn and play in. I've had children at SJM for the past eleven years and my youngest two are still enjoying what the older ones fondly look back at. Consistently staff go beyond what is expected to do what is right for
