We are Ashton Vale Pre-School Committee and would like to give you a brief outline of our role and responsibility within the Pre-School setting. We aim to ensure your child has the best possible start in their educational future with strong clear foundations laid. This is achieved with the knowledge, expertise, support, and care given by the staff, with the committee offering guidance and reassurances.
Ashton Vale Pre-School is a charity that is governed by a committee of trustees who oversee that all aspects of the Pre-school adhere to Ofsted regulations and the Charity Commissions regulations for such things as: child safety & welfare, health & safety, employment welfare & issues etc. We do this by ensuring policies & procedures are in place and updated, and finances maintained and training provided.

Services
All Staff at the Pre-School are qualified to the appropriate level in Child Care and through continued professional development are also fully trained in current practice. Many of the Practitioners hold other qualifications and wherever possible training is cascaded down to all practitioners, thereby enhancing everyone's knowledge and understanding.
Q: What's the difference between playgroup and nursery classes apart from the child's age? A: Our playgroup sessions are generally 3 hours - Mornings 9.00 - 12.00 or Afternoons 12.00 - 3.00. Children starting in September are not funded and we therefore charge a subsidised fee until your child is eligible for the Free Early Education Entitlement [FEEE] which is the term after their 3rd birthday.
The fees for the playgroup sessions are 3.50 per hour [a minimum of 3 hours is required], payable weekly in advance. For children that are funded 3+ we charge the hourly funding rate for any additional sessions [as at Sept 2019] this is 4.94 per hour. Fees must still be paid if children are absent without notice for a short period of time.
This means that you will probably need to do some additional work to look at your menu items, and the ingredients that you use in order to identify which of the 14 specific allergens mentioned in the regulations are present in the food you prepare. This information must be available so that business operators and their staff can accurately advise their customers about allergens when they are asked about them.
Please Note - we operate a 48 hour rule regarding raised temperature, sickness and diarrhea - we ask that you keep your child at home for 48 hours after the temperature has gone down or the last bout of sickness or diarrhea. Temperatures are usually a sign that your child has an infection and many childhood illnesses do not present themselves immediately.
