In Tedburn st Mary to see my wife's family over Christmas, popped in the Kings Arms for a pint and got charged £9.50 for a pint of Guinness and a Fosters. They did this four years ago , I was told by a local that they charge passing trade a £1 more per drink.
When I confronted the manager he apologised and reimbursed me.
I was told that this practice had stopped.
It obviously hasn't!

Waited almost 3 hours in my car for a member of staff to check me in after driving almost 4 hours.
The room was dated and very cold due to the window being broken. Shared toilet. After complaining about the room temperature i was told i could only change rooms and that would cost me £60!
I ordered steak and ale pie that i would not give to my dog!! Absolutely disgusted with this place would never recommend or return!!!

Booked a table at this pub after reading the reviews and also listed on the taste card website. The reviews were a bit mixed but thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt and try it for my self,so booked a table for my husband's birthday, we have been passed the pub a few times but never been in , when we got there we were greeted by the lady behind the bar then we were seated by lady called Hannah who was very friendly and welcoming she explained how the taste card worked and then took our order the food was quick and delicious and Hannah kept comming over to check on us, the atmosphere

Probably one of the worst meals we’ve had.. we passed by on the way back from Cornwall. Looked like an old traditional pub. Menu was ok, we asked if the pie on the menu was shortcrust or puff? The waitress didn’t know which surprised me as it was on the main menu. Maybe she was new or I’m just a fuss pot when it comes to pies! Anyway - shortcrust was the answer after speaking with the chef. Next question from her… mash or chips? We asked if the chips were fresh or frozen. Answer - fresh! So we opted for pie and chips as opposed to mash!
Anyway.. we scoped out some of the other diners plates

Delicious food in a great setting. I cannot believe I've lived here for 3 years and haven't been before. The food is amazing!! The service is friendly and they are doing a fantastic job following social distance guidelines. Had a wonderful lunch in the garden which is spacious and beautiful. We ordered a ploughmans lunch (highly recommend) and fish n chips for the kids. Portions are perfect and food is just wonderful. Go immediately!!

We wanted to visit the Montacute House, but arrived too late to get in. The Kings Arms was recommended as a nice place to stay.
The Kings Arms is in the charming village that surrounds Montacute House. It sits just across from the 12th century church. It has 15 en suite rooms, a bar and restaurant. The lounge area is comfortable and very nicely decorated. The staff were very pleasant, and our room was very nice and overlooked their large beer garden. The bath was small, with a shower and nice fluffy towels. There was a TV and tea kettle in the room.
We went to the lounge for drinks before dinner
