The Byre Veterinary Practice
Byre Vets was first etablished in a small unit along Papyrus Road, Werrington in 1990 and relocated in the summer of 2003 to it's present site. The surgery has excellent facilities and is an RCVS accredited small animal practice, which meets aproved standards. These are maintained by rigorous external inspections.

Our aim is to help you to maintain and improve the quality of your pet's health. We know that visits to the vets can be stressful, but we wish to make this process as pleasant as we can. In difficult cases referral to a specialist vet may be considered and we can advise you when the need might arise and who we would recommend your pet to see.
Services
Here at Byre Veterinary Surgery we aim to provide a first class, comprehensive veterinary service for you and your pet. As pet owners ourselves, we know how much you care for your pet and how important their health and well-being is to you. Our consultations are 15 minutes in length which gives us sufficient time to examine your pet, explain treatment options and for you to ask any questions that you may have.
Visits to the vet can be particularly stressful for some cats, so we've set up a separate waiting room just for felines. We've tried to make it as cat friendly as we can and, if you prefer, there is a box to put your cat basket off the ground to help your pet feel more secure.

All cat owners are welcome to use the new waiting room but for obvious reasons if you are having a family outing with all your pets we would ask you not to take any dogs in there! There is some useful information and advice on display aimed at cat owners as well as a selection of toys and equipment especially for our feline friends.
We've partnered with Video Vets Now so you can speak to a vet from home or out and about - 7 days a week between 8am and 11pm. Consults are 10 mins and cost 24. If your pet needs to be seen by us or Vets Now, your original 24 payment will be refunded. We partnered with Video Vets Now to help you get the advice and reassurance you need, wherever you are.
Neutering is the general term used for removal of the reproductive organs of both male and female dogs. There are many benefits to neutering your dog and there are of course some negatives. Dogs usually reach puberty at around 6 months of age and hormones can start to affect their behaviour. This behaviour will not automatically stop with neutering.
We believe that nutrition is an important part of keeping pets healthy and can also play a vital part in the treatment of some illnesses. This is why we stock a select range of cat and dog pet food in practice, helping to take the faff out of pet food for our clients by recommending diets that have been scientifically created to provide optimal nutrition, which tastes great!

From the moment i stepped into the vets i knew it was the right place for my dogs.
The reception was immaculate and the staff were friendly, smart and approachable
I walked in with a heavy heart but upon leaving, although the prognosis was not what i was hoping for i felt fully informed, calm and reassured.
The caring nature of all the staff was second to none.
Watching and listening to how to team were, was as if they were a ‘family’.Amazing.

I traveled home with my dog to visit my parents (hes had kidney issues for a while now but was quite well when i left) he unfortunately took a turn for the worst and i needed help from a professional, the advice i got from an incredibly rude receptionist was to take him on a 3 hour journey back to my own vet when i new in my heart his time had come he would not of survived the journey and i refused to let him suffer for a minute longer than he needed to.
i got zero sympathy from byre vets when i was clearly in alot of distress and at a loss of what to do and was only asking for help, i find it

I have been very happy with the service Benji has received while visiting this practice.
On his first check up all questions I had were answered and I was given some really good advice.
I have become a member of the pet club which is great as it allows me to spread the cost out instead of one large amount each visit.
On his second visit for his vaccinations the vet reassured me that he was healthy and that there was no concerns with his health and well being .
As I am a new doggy parent I appreciate the helpful advice and care myself and Benji have been shown at this practice.
Thanks from

I was referred here for my Pomeranian to have Patella surgery and they have been absolutely amazing. She is very shy and nervous with Vets and Viktor and the team have been incredible with her. So kind and caring and have treated her so well. When we came back for the post op check up they wanted to keep another eye on her and kept her under their care until they were fully happy she was better. Honestly such a good vet, couldnt have asked for better care and service.

I'm sorry to say it but, since Bob Gillespie sold the practice, it has gone from superb to appalling. It was apparent very quickly, that after Mr Gillespie aka, Colonel, as we nicknamed him, left, the standards dropped straight away. You could see the staff morale draining away in front of your very eyes. The staff became almost drained and devoid of any empathy towards people or the animals and, I know it may sound ridiculous but, even our dog, behaved differently when we took her there. She never used to mind going but, suddenly, after the changeover, she backed away from the staff and the vets

Love this practice! All the staff from reception through to the vets themselves are so lovely, friendly, and always very helpful and very very caring. The vets are always ready to explain fully your pets diagnosis and treatments without the feeling that you are taking up their time. The ladies on reception also divulge lots of helpful tips and suggestions as well as a friendly smile and greeting. Almost like talking to family members. Thank you so much for your continued pet care all at Byre Vets! 😊🐾
