The practices name is taken from St Leonards Priory, founded by Benedictine Monks in the early 12th Century, now a scheduled ancient monument and situated just a few hundred yards down the road. The impressive west front of The Priory forms part of our logo. Despite the ever increasing corporate world, we proudly remain an independent practice.
Breeders are legally required to microchip all puppies before the age of 8 weeks and prior to the puppies leaving for their new home. Sadly it is not yet a legal requirement for cats to be microchipped, but fortunately it has become a routine procedure these days with most owners electing to microchip their feline friends.
Our laboratory is well equipped for blood testing, microscopic examination and urine testing. Our on-site blood machine means that we can run the majority of tests in practice which enables us to give a prompt diagnosis. This is essential in emergencies and when treating sick pets. Microscopic examination is incredibly useful for identifying a range of mites, other ecto and endo parasites, crystals and cells.
Did you know that having a healthy mouth does not only affect your pet's teeth and gums but also their heart, liver and kidneys too?. Here at Priory Veterinary Practice we have modern dentistry equipment and use an ultrasonic dental machine for plaque and calculus (hardened plaque) removal. This prevents gingivitis and periodontitis.
Here at Priory Veterinary Practice we have state of the art digital imaging equipment for non-invasive diagnostics. Our digital equipment means that we can have an almost immediate image of all the radiographs we take. All pets, unless for life threatening or emergency reasons, will need to be given a general anaesthetic or sedation for this procedure.

First impressions, very good, more than happy with the vet we saw and so much better than our previous vets. Great to have a vet we can talk to, also great that we can see the same couple of vets, something we really appreciate as the vet gets to know our dog.

Saw Alice today for our beloved old arthritic Lab, Oscar. She listened carefully to all my concerns & responded compassionately & thoroughly in her assessment of him & ongoing treatment plan. I feel relieved and reassured that he now has the right medication to keep him comfortable & pain free. Cant thank you enough.
