Services
My name is Mary Dees, I am a Registered Psychotherapist with BACP, my main modality is Transactional Analysis but I also borrow from other techniques such as body psychotherapy, gestalt, mindfulness and others. I am a member of the UKATA and BACP and abide by their code of ethics and professional practice.
Transactional Analysis is a social psychology that encompasses a wide range of theories and techniques that can be used by individuals, groups, organisations and partnerships to enable them to reach their full potential. Its applications include improving communications, management, personality, relationships and behaviour.
My therapy approach is based on the belief that everyone can learn and change and that we are all responsible for own behaviour, thoughts and feelings. I will work with you to find out what you want from counselling and therapy and this will form our goals and working contract. One of the ways I work is through our relationship with each other.
Anxiety can be distressing, highly damaging and disabling. It can prevent you from achieving your potential in many areas of life - work, family and friends. If you have anxiety be aware that it affects 1 in 20 adults and is the most common form of mental issue in the UK. The causes are many and unique to each person - whether it be childhood issues, traumatic experiences, or years of poor health.
Counselling and psychotherapy are umbrella terms that cover a range of talking therapies. They are delivered by trained practitioners who work with people over a short or long term to help them bring about effective change or enhance their wellbeing. A counsellor or psychotherapist will treat you with respect and provide a safe, non-judgemental space for you to talk and explore your issues.
