Little Acorns Day Nursery
It was in 1999 that I received a letter regarding the availability of the lease of a local church hall. After more than a decade of working in the childcare profession, starting as a volunteer assistant and ultimately working my way up to manager, I felt this was the time for me to start my own nursery.

I viewed the hall at Saint James Church, my Grandmother had been a park keeper there during my happy childhood, and so it seemed quite natural for this to be the home of Little Acorns. The reputation of the nursery soon grew, as did the waiting list! We expanded opening a second site, and again demand for places grew, as did the waiting list!
Services
We believe that every child is special and therefore, we treat every child with the same amount of love, care and affection. A Unique Child: Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Positive Relationships: Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
During our last inspection, Little Acorns Day Nursery received a maximum 5-star 'Scores on the Doors' rating for food quality and hygiene from Southwark's Local Environmental Health Department. We source fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables from Borough Market and fresh fish from the local fish mongers.
Little Acorns Day Nursery accepts and fully supports the government's Free Early Education Entitlement (FEEE) scheme which offers children, the term after their 2nd or 3rd birthday, up to 30 hours of nursery education per week for 38 weeks of the year. In order to be considered as part of the FEEE scheme, we have had to demonstrate the quality of our service and delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage to Ofsted and our local authority.
Little Acorns Day Nursery aims to provide high-quality childcare and nursery education in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment, giving priority to the development, needs and happiness of our children and their families. The nursery believes that this quality can be achieved by working together in partnership with parents, carers and Ofsted, with our childcare and nursery education firmly following the four EYFS principles.

Little Acorns is a fantastic nursery.
My daughter was here from when she turned 1 to 3.5 years old. She had a lovely time with all the minders in the different age groups. She has learnt so much, and I can definitely see the impact made by the efforts of the lovely team at Little Acorns.
Special mention must be made of the management team as well, who are always easy to contact. I particularly appreciated the effort made by the staff to keep the morale going during the uncertain times of the first Covid lockdown, with frequent zoom calls, story videos, etc.
Overall, a great experience. I highly

The most wonderful nursery. Our little boy went here as a toddler and developed so much whilst having lots of fun. The staff are so great, brilliant with children and really responsive. Brilliant with parents and all our queries! I’m genuinely saddened to be moving as will never find a nursery like it ….! X

Our daughter stayed there from the age of 9 months until she was 3.5 years old.
She really liked it there and she definitely learnt a lot (potty training, counting, ABC, holding pencils and basic writing)
She was almost always happy to go there and when she would be in a bad day, we felt she was in good hands and they would manage to turn the frown up.
We never saw her coming out of there without a smile.
All in all, it was a great experience.
The only downer is the price that has increased faster than inflation every year but it still remained lower than the price paid by some on my friends

My daughter settled in very quickly, and built lovely trusting relationships with her key workers and the other adults. I received detailed feedback every day when picking her up, letting me know what she had learnt that day and any other pertinent information. This was helpful and allowed me to feel confident that she was being watched and cared for in the same way I would care for her.
She has progressed as a person under the watchful eye of Little Acorns, and she is mentally and emotionally ready for her big move into reception. Both of my children attended Little Acorns and flourished, and

Our son began here at 5 months. Almost two years later he still loves it! The team are all fantastic, especially Caroline who is a credit to the childcare profession. Highly recommended.
