What another fantastic week we have had in Pre-school. We have continued to explore our environment both inside and outside and have been enhancing our personal, social and emotional skills by playing with our friends in the different areas of learning.

This week we have been interested in volcanoes, we have been continuing to look at different volcanoes on the interactive whiteboard and then did our own experiment where we made our play volcano erupt. This week we have also been interested in bugs, we saw a beautiful dragonfly in our outside area and then decided to go for a bug hunt in the paddock where we found a worm, slug and snail.
We have had a wonderful week in Pre-School. Indoors we have continued to explore our theme of pirates, this week we have been junk modelling our own pirate ships, drawing our own treasure maps, as well as imaginative play with our own pirates, ship and treasure in the small world area. We have also enjoyed joining in our virtual gymnastics with Mrs Winward, our French session with Madame Wardle and yoga activities.
In EYFS, Miss Clayton is the Class Teacher, Ms Kershaw, Mrs Walsh and Mrs Matthews are our Key Workers. The Early Years curriculum follows 7 areas of development, we teach and assess across 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas. The learning environment is set up with continuous provision allowing children to access resources independently and according to their interests.
We have had a brilliant second week in EYFS class. The children have continued to build relationships with peers and have explored the continuous provision with confidence. This week we have especially enjoyed the story of The Gingerbread Man, drawing our favourite characters from the story, creating our own gingerbread men in the playground area and mark making around our own bodies and decorating to create our own life-sized gingerbread men!
What a super week we've had in Year 1! In Maths we have been exploring one more and one less than, as well as looking at 3D shapes in Geometry. In English we have been writing descriptions about the African shield from our story and creating rhyming strings using the adjectives we identified. We then created our own poem as a class and performed it all together!
