Kites Nursery is the longest running nursery in Gwent as it was the first private day nursery established in 1986. Moving to larger premises and mirroring each other the two nurseries offer a full childcare service for children aged from birth to 14 years. The nurseries are extensively renovated and refurbished with an ongoing maintenance programme, including up to date fire and emergency lighting systems to ensure the well being and safety of your child at all times.
Services
We are registered for 95 children in Caerleon and 82 in Newport from birth to 14 years. All of the staff are qualified to at least level 3 in childcare with most qualified and working towards level 5. Staff are also qualified in Pediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Child Protection and all have a clear enhanced CRB / DBS.
Throughout the day all of the children take part in planned activities and learning opportunities with a desired outcome. We understand the importance of each individual child's needs and different rates of development, giving each child the care and attention that they need. The base rooms are equipped to promote and enhance the learning and stages of development of your child.
Our babies are cared for in several rooms in the nursery on the ground floor depending on their age and stage of development. Babies develop quickly and our baby rooms reflect this with age appropriate equipment and activities to stimulate and encourage this development. Our fully qualified experienced staff are part of this, nurturing and caring for them as they meet their individual milestones maintaining ratios of 1:3.
Your child starts in the toddler room when they are 2 years old. When your child is approaching their second birthday they will start to have settling in sessions so that it is familiar to them. The ratio of staff to children in this room is 1:4. Staff will discuss this move with you so you can become familiar with the staff and the room.
The children enter the preschool room following their 3rd birthday. The preschool room has many areas within it and the children are free to move about the room as they choose. However, each child is monitored throughout the day to ensure that they are using all of the areas of learning and having each learning opportunity.
