From the moment we walked in, the service was phenomenal. The best we've ever had in the UK and a true authentic Italian restaurant. I have lived in Italy for 2 months and going to this restaurant was like being in Italy again. The restaurant was that good, that we had to download trip advisor just to leave a good review!

Tuesday evening, dining alone. Nice and quiet and given choice of table. Everything was clean and tidy. I wasn't rushed and wine waiter was happy to talk about the choice available. Service throughout was friendly, efficient and unobtrusive, food was exquisite and portion size was spot on.
I ate bruschetta, lasagne and cheesecake, no complaints at all.

On a wet fall Manchester day, the urge of a good charming little Italian restaurant was on the lookout. Walking on Oxford street and not finding anything until I spot a little place in the corner of my eye. Seemed inviting at a distance therefore took it upon myself to give it a fair look. The closer I was getting, the more it was telling me to walk in. Standing in front of the main entrance, drenched and wet, I decide to walk in the place. First thing, the person at the reception tells me "What happened?" What he really meant to say was, "you're soaking wet". I instantly

Have had good meals here previously, and again the meal was good this time.
Possibly noisy just past the point of 'atmospheric' and was in fact difficult to have a conversation. Service possibly slightly suffered as a result of how busy the place was, but was still pleasant and relatively quick.
Not the greatest italian meal I've ever had, certainly not the worst. Great spot for meeting for dinner; there's good parking nearby, and it's obviously excellent pre-concert, as it is just next door to the Bridgewater Hall.
Minor culinary point: The 'sticky toffee pudding

Gio may not be special, Manchester has so many decent Italians that you can practically see a couple from Gio's entrance, but it is a very solid entry in the lengthy list of mid-market restaurants.
I visited Gio with a large group of friends for lunch one day, eating off the pre-theatre menu, and frankly I was fairly impressed. The quality was solid and the portions pretty impressive for a set menu. Everything I tasted had a good flavour to it, nothing was bland or generic - though I'll agree with my friend who found the arrabbiata far too spicy for a full portion. All things considered

I have walked past this place a zillion times probably but never realized it is a restaurant till yesterday (Well I was extremely hungry and I guess hunger makes you notice food joints better).
Like I mentioned before, I was starving and wanted a filling meal so decided to give Gio a try. The place looks like a nice homely cafe from inside with pretty lamps and green walls (nothing impressive but nice enough). I ordered for a spinach and cheese ravioli in mushroom sauce with chicken and my friend ordered for Calzone (which is a folded pizza with chicken and spices). I thought my order was fairly

Went there for lunch with a friend and I was impressed, good hearty Itallian. I had the Minestrone followed by tagliatelle with carbonara sauce. Both were very good, the Minestrone particularly, but I'm a lover of soup. The Location also looks authentic, and the staff is very helpful. Bonus points for the Italian (non-Pellegrino) sparkling water.
