We are a small animal hospital in Gorleston and a small animal practice in Lowestoft, first established in 1984. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and provide our own 24-hour emergency care at our Gorleston Hospital.

To help keep us all safe, please do not attend the practice unless you have a pre-booked appointment, or have arranged to collect food/medication.
Services
Established in 1984 originally as 'Button and Cheetham', we have been caring for your pets for over 30 years. Comprising of the Veterinary Hospital in Gorleston and the Veterinary Surgery in Lowestoft, we employ many dedicated vets and nurses across both sites. Each practice is fully equipped to provide all routine and preventative medicine as well as having full diagnostic and surgical services including digital X-ray, ultrasound and endoscopy.
Here at The Veterinary Hospital and Surgery, we're very proud to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated individuals working in our friendly practice. We are all passionate about animals and their well-being, from our veterinary surgeons and qualified nurses to our essential support staff. Highly trained and caring, each of us has a role to play in making this a special practice for you to visit with your pet.
Our team of highly dedicated and experienced veterinary surgeons and vet nurses are devoted to your pet's wellbeing. Your pets are always our priority. We all have our own pets and work hard to provide the same service to you that we would want for our own much-loved animals. At our surgeries we provide continuity of care, working with you to provide effective and high quality treatment.
Many of our patients are receiving long term treatment and are eligible for 'repeat prescriptions'. Usually, we see these patients every six months, although for some conditions and often at the start of a new treatment, this may be more frequently. If your pet is due more of their usual medication, please contact us no less than 48-hours before you would like to collect this.
In the event of an emergency during our normal opening hours please call your usual surgery on 01493 661833 (Gorleston) or 01502 572141 (Lowestoft) where you will be advised what to do next. If your call is during the night or at the weekend whilst our clinic is closed, please contact MiNightVet Gorleston on 01493 661833.

With concerns about my cat who was being sick everyday I called up for advise. The gentle.an who answered my call could not have been more helpful and the advise he gave after speaking to the vet has improved her significantly. Thank you

The surgery does not provide vaccination for pets in time; if you have a pet plan, they didn't call you to collect flee treatment, they didn't give a check-up as promised every six months. So I don't know what the point is to sign to pet plan if they do not provide service as they promise to. My two cats pedigree and very expensive if they catch calicivirus because they do not offer vaccinations in time, the surgery again blame the brexit and covid restrictions. But realistically, they are not ready to provide service as a vet clinic.

I have been with this practice for about 18 years now, with various pet cats and rabbit having been treated. I have met some wonderful vets, veterinary nurses during that time, who have showed compassion and care and a genuine kindness in treating my pets. The receptionists are wonderful, so friendly and helpful, Jana, Richard and Edith are lovely. I have read some of the other comments and I agree that vet fees are high but I think that applies to many, but you do get excellent service here. I would recommend this veterinary hospital.
