Services
The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is extra funding given to the nursery that aims to improve outcomes for eligible 3 and 4 years olds. We look carefully at each child's baseline data at the start of the year and identify group or individual interventions that will boost their progress. If you are in receipt of any of the following, early years pupil premium funding may be available for your child.
At Tanglewood we support many children with a wide variety of additional needs or disabilities. Funding to support children's additional needs is either through our internal budget or via Essex County Council's additional SEN Premium funding stream.
If we are aware of a child's additional needs before they start with us, we liaise with other agencies such as Speech Therapists, Specialist Teachers and Health Visitors to aim to get support in place as soon as the child starts.Once children have started in either Little Tanglewood or main Tanglewood, classroom staff will assess and monitor all children's attainment and progress.

You can add your child's name to the waiting list for Little Tanglewood and Tanglewood from the age of 1. Our waiting lists are updated regularly and as soon as a place becomes available in either Little Tanglewood or Tanglewood our Admissions Officer, Jane Hatch will contact you. Please keep your contact details current to avoid any disappointment should we be unable to contact you.
Each classroom has 3 nursery nurses and a learning support assistant supported by a teacher team working across all 3 classrooms, allowing us a ratio of 1-8 in each room. Each class base is well resourced and develops across the year based on the needs and interests of the children.
In addition to this, each classroom has access to the Tanglewood Garden and Forest Garden which provide a wide range of opportunities for children to further enrich their learning at Tanglewood.

The Speech and Language Centre (Rainbow Room) provides intensive speech and language therapy for children having been identified as having severe and specific difficulties in this area of development.
The children who attend Rainbow Room spend the majority of their session in the mainstream classroom (Wonder Room) but have the opportunity to work in small groups individually supported by Speech and Language Therapists and a dedicated Learning Support Assistant.

Tanglewood Nursery School are amazing, I couldn’t recommend them more! My 3 year old boy has autism, and they have been brilliant with him! I found the staff to be so knowledgable and extremely supportive of him and myself. The development and positive changes in him have been amazing. And he’s become so confident and happy to go in each morning, which is so lovely to see!

Tanglewood are FANTASTIC.
They tailor-make play and learning for every child, and work with parents to allow children to thrive ready for their journey to school.
My son has loved every minute.
It took a while for him to come out of his shell, but the team were lovely and encouraging and he was soon happily playing and learning.
The team are so supportive and approachable and spend all of their time coming up with ways to spread joy.
The nursery is a lovely environment to be in, it’s always happy and all about the children.

My little boy absolutely loves little tanglewood I would highly recommend it! The staff are amazing and go above and beyond to make it a wonderful place to be! My daughter also went to main tanglewood she loved it and wishes she could go back! Fantastic nursery.

Today was the final day of our youngest son Jude Stephan in Tanglewood. We have been frequenting Tanglewood since September 2015 with our eldest son Noel. All our boys, Noel, Juan & Jude, had their pre-schooling in Tanglewood and they all absolutely loved it. Jude started with Little Tanglewood in April 2019, and as he was born in September, luckily had an additional year there in Tanglewood. Excellent facilities, wonderful staff and friendly environment – the hallmark of Tanglewood Nursery school. I can’t recommend Tanglewood enough, the staff and the facilities are just fantastic.
I don’t know what we would have done without them over the last 16 months. The length that these wonderful humans have gone to, to keep our children safe and to keep their lives as normal as possible, is unreal.
As a nursery school, there was no real guidance for them on how they should operate during lockdown and coming out of them.
Debs and the team worked tirelessly to assess the risks and come up with a plan that was safe for everyone, but still felt like nursery, keeping our children at the heart of

Tanglewood is a fantastic preschool. They have great facilities for the children and create an environment whereby they can safely explore and learn and most importantly, have fun. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly and happy to see the children come in every morning. My daughter has been going to Tanglewood for a year and a half and loves every minute of it. She’s always happy to go to nursery and loves her teachers. Now that she is moving on to ‘big school’, she has expressed that she will miss the red room, but I feel confident that her time at Tanglewood has prepared her

I’ve had 7 children go through Tanglewoods, it’s a lovely nursery.
All the staff are so nice and caring, even the most clingy child settles really quickly here.
The children learn through play and the staff ensure they have lots of different activities each day, with cooking, messy play, counting and the usual babies and cars.
Would recommend to any mum considering either Little Tanglewood or the main nursery.

We cannot thank Little Tanglewood and Tanglewood enough.
Our daughter has special needs and both settings have been incredibly supportive and have helped her develop in preparation for starting school in September. They have been very understanding to our daughter’s requirements and went the extra mile to make sure she had everything she needed.
We are so glad we chose Tanglewood Nursery School and will definitely be sending her younger sibling there in the future (watch out!).

It's an excellent school. Particularly the staff , they are very friendly, very caring and patient. They addressed all my questions, they are taking very good care of my child. My child loves the school and the teachers there. They have very good garden and a forest setup , children will have lot of stuff to play with. I found children from different ethnic groups ,yet they all united. These guys also have school for 2 year olds. This is an Essex county school who offer free childcare for 3 hours a day 5 days a week.
