Services
When you're choosing a home for yourself or a loved one, it's important to know all of the facts before you make such an important decision for the long-term. Our ethos is to provide a luxury lifestyle and the highest quality of life to each and every one of our residents. From the moment you walk into The Porterbrook, you'll experience a real difference from more traditional care homes.
We are proud to offer Residential Care and Respite Care at The Porterbrook, however exactly what our care looks like is individual to each resident. For those who may need a little extra help with personal care, this offering is particularly well suited. In addition to assistance where needed, residents enjoy all meals and social aspects of life at The Porterbrook.
The Porterbrook Care Home is under new management and we'd like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our carefully selected team of experts. Sheilagh Sweeney, who has more than 30 years of experience of working in care homes and social care, is the new care home manager and will lead the team at The Porterbrook.
Our focus is on providing all of the facilities and opportunities for our residents to enjoy living their life to the full - their way. It's extremely important to us that our residents think of The Porterbrook as their home. Friends and family are always welcome to drop in for a chat, a coffee or even book a private dining experience.
When we are looking for new members to join our team, we look for those who share the same standards of exemplary care as we do. We have a person-centred attitude to care, which means we look after the wellbeing of the whole individual, not just their care requirements.

So as well as the necessary qualifications, you'll need to be a 'people person', someone who instinctively responds to the emotional and physical needs of each individual resident and can build a strong rapport.

After reading the latest QCC report nothing has been learnt from last year ,All the concerns we as a family raised about my uncle care last may,We still don't have all the answers from them 11 months after his death,I would strongly say it's not a good home if your relatives need caring for.but ok if they can do things for them selves ,just an update as of June 2019 I have now had a post put on the NHS care home web site .Also raised concerns with QCC,who have now seen the photos, and notes that we as a family had taken,

This is one if the most disappointing care homes I have visited. Looks beautiful, had a bar, a gym and is really nicely furnished but the night staff didn't know how to open the front door, use the internal phone system, find residents medical information or be able to recognise what a DNACPR looks like. Tried to contact a manager but nobody would Answer the phone and on speaking to the team leader could not care less what we had to say. With the correct staff training the porterbrook could be brilliant.
