The Bridge Foundation is a Bristol-based charity that provides accessible, high quality clinical services to a wide range of individuals, professionals and commissioners. Since our formation in 1983, we have grown into a multidisciplinary, psychoanalytic Centre of Excellence, specialising in child and family mental health.
Today, our Bridge Psychotherapy Service and Bridge in Schools programme provide therapy and consultation for more than 200 clients a week. Due to the pandemic we have been able to reach a wider range of people by offering our services remotely. We also run a vibrant programme of public events and training courses, to promote the application of psychoanalytic thinking in clinical practice, the arts and public life.

Services
At the Bridge Foundation we want a future where every person can feel secure about who they are and relate to others as fully and honestly as possible. Children, young people, adults and families find help from highly qualified and skilled staff. Organisations and professionals find a space for learning and reflecting on clinical practice.
The Bridge Foundation was founded in 1983 by Sally Box, a psychoanalytic psychotherapist trained at the Tavistock clinic. The early vision was an organisation applying a psychoanalytic approach to understanding issues of everyday life, groups and organisations.
The Bridge became a registered charity in 1984 and the initial activities were developed along educational lines beginning with running a series of public lectures on psychoanalysis and everyday life. The Bridge has continued to develop these founding principles with educational, and therapeutic services, for individuals, families, groups and organisations.
