Southlands Care Home has thrived for more than 25 years on word-of-mouth recommendation - and here's why:. At Southlands, we're continuously striving to push the boundaries of what a good care home should be. As you'd expect of a quality provider, our approach to care is holistic: we pay as much attention to the emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being of our residents as to their practical and physical needs.
But we go a little bit further than that. Our motto 'Your life, your care, your way!' isn't just empty rhetoric; it's our driving philosophy. Our staff members are hand-picked for their attitude and personality as well as skill sets. They all subscribe to our core belief that individuality matters, and that everyone is innately interesting, enjoyable and useful.

We also encourage you to come and talk to our friendly, knowledgeable staff. We recommend you bring someone with you - a member of your family, existing care worker or someone you trust, if you like, as we know it can be a difficult decision to make. We also understand that your needs can change. That's why we offer a range of options, in-depth consultation and a flexible approach to ensure you have the perfect arrangement for you.
My wife and I have extensive experience in social care provision. I qualified as a social worker in 1991 and over the course of twenty five years, I have variously managed a London Borough's homes for the elderly, operated homes for people with learning difficulties and provided houses and support for people in crisis or with complex needs.
We whole-heartedly believe our staff is second to none. Largely local, our team members are characterised by their knowledge, friendliness, outstanding commitment to care, and long service at Southlands. At the helm is State Registered Nurse, Carol Dyke, who has been a nurse for more than three decades.
There can come a time in later life when living alone at home is no longer the best option. For some, it's when they no longer feel up to performing essential chores such as cooking a nutritional meal, changing the bed sheets or changing a light bulb. Perhaps the garden has become too much of a burden.
After a spell in hospital for a serious illness or medical procedure, it can take a little while to get back on your feet. Then, the idea of returning home can be daunting for the patient and their loved ones alike. One option is to spend a short time at a care home like Southlands. And when we say 'short term', we mean for just as long as you need it: we have a reputation for doing whatever we can to help people 'get back to normal' again.
