We wish you a very warm welcome to the Sheddingdean Community Primary School website, and hope that it gives you a feel for the vision, aims and values that we hold. We are all extremely proud of our school, and are committed to providing the best possible education for all of our children, with high expectations of achievement, attainment and behaviour.

We strive to develop positive attitudes to learning, and to ensure that the children are confident individuals, keen to achieve their best. The caring, supportive, and stimulating environment values respect for others, and we take pride in the way that our children support each other.
Services
Sheddingdean School was built in 1986, opened in 1987, and provides accommodation for 210 children. It is co-educational and caters for children aged 4 to 11 years. Children are admitted at the beginning of the academic year in which their fifth birthday occurs.

The school comprises three units: an administration unit (containing the Head Teacher's office, Business Manager's office, general office, staff room, information centre, assembly hall) and two teaching units - one for Key Stage 2(KS2), and one shared by Foundation Stage (Reception class) and Key Stage 1 (KS1).
The statutory purpose of the Governing Body is to promote high standards of educational achievement at the school. The day to day management of the school is the responsibility of the Headteacher and staff, whereas the governors are responsible for the general direction of the school and providing a strategic overview.
Our school is a diverse, vibrant learning community where expectations and standards are high. I am very proud to be the Co-Headteacher at Sheddingdean Primary School, its ethos and the strength of our school community. I am lucky to work alongside a fantastic team of teachers, learning support assistants and support staff.
At Sheddingdean Primary School, we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our whole school community (children, staff, parents and carers), and recognise how important mental health and emotional wellbeing is to our lives in just the same way as physical health. We recognise that children's mental health is a crucial factor in their overall wellbeing and can affect their learning and achievement.
Our primary aim is to provide a happy, caring and secure environment in which each child will have the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically. We aim to develop lively, enquiring minds and to apply them to tasks and the learning of skills.
