St Swithun's C Of E Primary School
St Swithun's Church of England Primary School is a caring and vibrant place to be. Our whole school community of children, parents, staff and governors has contributed to creating our vision for the education we aim to provide. St Swithun's is a Church of England primary school, with a strong Christian ethos, which is summed up in the three words Nurture - Grow - Flourish.

The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches. The parable teaches us that we all have the potential to grow and flourish.
Services
My name is Caroline Knighton and it is my privilege to be headteacher of St Swithun's CofE Primary School. We are proud of the reputation St Swithun's has as a warm, welcoming, 'family' school. We cultivate and nurture attitudes of courtesy, consideration and respect in all our activities and relationships.
St Swithun's CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, governors, volunteers, parents/carers and visitors to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
Welcome to the governors' section of the St Swithun's School website. Here you can find out about the role of governors, the composition of our governing body, who the governors at St Swithun's are, and more about them.

We support the Headteacher and her staff in building on the considerable strengths of the school and in so doing ensuring all aspects of the school - quality of teaching, leadership and management, behaviour, safety and the achievement of pupils - continue to improve.Schools are required to publish a register of governor business interests and attendance at full governing body meetings and committee meetings.
We are very pleased with the outcome, confirming St Swithun's as a 'Good' school. Please see a covering letter from our headteacher below and a copy of the letter from Ofsted. As a Church of England school, we also have a Section 48 inspection, which is statutory for all church schools. Please see the report below.
The government is providing additional funding to improve provision of PE and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and is ring-fenced; therefore, can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but have the freedom to choose how they do this.
