We are sisters; Tracey Elliott-Hobson and Sarah Emms. We qualified as teachers in the early 1990's and we each have over 25 years experience in education working in Primary, Secondary and Early Years. We are registered with OFSTED to care for 44 children, aged 6 months to 5 years of age. We are situated in a large converted church building which was built in the 1930's behind Falsgrave.
It is just a 10 minute walk into the town. A large, carpeted space plus wet area for 'messy play'. There is also a quiet sensory room with sound and lighting displays and a separate sleep room. With construction, creative play, role-play and water as well as a story and listening area, play-dough table, loose parts play and free-flow to the outdoor area.

When we created Skylark in 2006 our own children were young. Our vision was to make a setting that would encompass what we wanted for our children. We have established an inviting environment, with a homely atmosphere, where children feel safe and happy to explore, and there is lots of space to be active and creative.
There is also a quiet sensory room with sound and lighting displays which the children can learn to turn on and off as they develop their fine-motor skills. There is a separate sleep room containing cots with a large window over-looking the play area. All bedding is changed and laundered after every child's use.
Young children love to explore, investigate, and solve problems with space to develop their gross motor skills. The Stars and Rainbows share the front play area throughout the day, whilst the Sunbeams have an area at the back which they can free-flow into. At the front there is a boat with steps to practise climbing skills up to the second floor.
Staff have trained to run a 'Beach School' because we value living in a seaside town and we want the children to engage in it too. We have a chalet at the South Bay which we use as a base for activities such as rock-pool hunts, paddling in the sea and sandcastle building. All of the children visit the beach for Shrove Tuesday to enjoy the 'Skipping Day' traditions of Scarborough and during the school summer holidays.
A member of your child's key team will always be available to talk to you when you drop off and pick up. Children in Sunbeams will be given a 'Link Book' in which we will record sleeping, eating and nappy changes plus what your child has particularly enjoyed that day. This book will come home in your child's bag each day.
