The primary educators of children are their parents and families. To support parents in this responsibility, our Catholic parish of Our Lady and St Hugh established St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery School in 1995 on a peaceful site adjacent to Our Lady of Lourdes School. The nursery provides a warm, happy and safe environment for children aged between 2 and 5 years of all religions and cultures.
The nursery school is governed by a team of Trustees who have ultimate responsibility for the nursery. The Nursery Manager is responsible for the daily running of the nursery along with the Deputy Manager. Ideas and suggestions from parents regarding life at nursery are encouraged and welcomed. We welcome children from all denominations and backgrounds into our caring Christian environment.

Services
We encourage open communication between parents and staff. Parents are always welcome to settle their child at the beginning of the session and to chat briefly with their child's key person. We use an online system for tracking children's progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage which is sent to parents on a regular basis.
St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery School actively encourages healthy eating. All children, whether attending a morning or an afternoon session, are offered a caf break. At this time, children are encouraged to collect a cup and bowl and sit with other children to have a drink of milk or water and a healthy snack.
Monday to Friday. We offer flexible sessions that can be made up of a combination of mornings, afternoons or all day. Changes to sessions can be made 3 times a year (September, January and April) and will do our best to accommodate all requests. At St Hugh of Lincoln Nursery School, we recommend that Government-funded children take a minimum of 2 sessions per week.
All 3 & 4-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours per week of government funded childcare from the term after their 3rd birthday. The nursery has 3 intakes a year: September, January and after Easter, in-line with the above. If you are living and working in England, 3 and 4-year-olds may be entitled to 30 hours free early education per week.
The nursery are pleased to accept children who have been offered 2 year old funding from Oxfordshire County Council. Research has shown that the experiences a child has in the first few years of life play a crucial part in determining future outcomes. Please see our table below on how the nursery have supported children in receipt of 2-year-old funding.
