Services
Our lovely Main House dates back to 1866. It was built for the Duke of Bedford's Mine Captain, James Richards, who was responsible for the mining of copper and tin in the Tamar Valley. The house remained inextricably linked to mining throughout the boom years until 1918, when it became part of the Bedford Estate.
A luxurious private home in the 1800s with a rich history, this 4 star country house hotel offers a warm welcome, understated elegance and stunning views. Surrounded by countryside and just a stone's throw from both Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Dartmoor National Park, The Horn of Plenty is in one of the most beautiful parts of Devon.
The Horn of Plenty Hotel has 16 well equipped bedrooms, including 4 rooms in the Main House (built 1866), 6 rooms in the Original Coach House (converted around 12 years ago), and 6 rooms in the New Coach House (built in 2014). Our rooms vary in size from "classic" and "cosy" doubles to "deluxe", through to our luxurious "best" rooms.
Whether you're looking for a unique gift for a family member, friend or loved one - or simply a treat for yourself - our specially created gift vouchers make a perfect choice. Give the gift of a dining experience, indulgent afternoon tea or overnight stay at our gorgeous Country House with spectacular views over the Tamar Valley.
There's no better place for a dog friendly break in Devon. Whether it's our 5 acres of gardens to run around and explore, a short walk around the nearby Tamar Valley, or a trip to Dartmoor to tackle something longer, you'll be spoilt for choice by the adventures to be had here at The Horn of Plenty.

Beautifully presented food. Very tasty. Tiny portions, maybe have a sandwich beforehand.
Pimms was a good drink and generous size. Canapes with drink were unexpected and very good.
Our large group could not buy a glass of wine at table, only bottles. Eventually waitress relented.
An enjoyable visit.

Lucky enough to get married here and it is simply stunning.
Ourselves and our guests were all so impressed.
The photos really do not do it enough justice, you have to see it for yourselves.
The food was incredible. Rooms were super clean and beautifully decorated. Staff were friendly, efficient and professional. You can see why they have won awards. They certainly deserve them.
