This famous site of Nether Largie above has been surveyed and analysed by many visitors, and it has been suggested that the stones here probably functioned together as a lunar observatory. Temple Wood is yet another famous site (above left) and (above right) one of the many cairns which can be found throughout Kilmartin Glen.

This is an old coaching inn near the Kilmartin museum . Kilmartin has so much local history and is surrounded by Neolithic stones and cairns . The nearby museum is worth looking at as is the church .
The hotel has so much atmosphere and has a friendly well stocked bar including craft ales . We stayed a couple of nights using it as a base to dot around the area .
Delightful staff made the visit for us and although it badly needs a refurb we were made comfortable and the breakfast was just great .
