For generations, residents and visitors have delighted in the rich history and architecture that combine to make Rochester, Kent's shining light in the Garden of England. At the George Vaults, we have continued in this rich history and added a modern twist with a touch of class. Based in the centre of Rochester with three floors and five distinctive areas, there are few venues that offer such choice and high standards.
Main dinning area where by day you may indulge in lunch, dinner or just enjoy a refreshing drink and by night, subtle lighting and candle lit tables create a relaxed and chilled ambience Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday a more upbeat and vibrant atmosphere with great music for all to enjoy.

What a great experience! We hired the amazing and stunning function room down stairs, for a 60th birthday party. We went with the hot/ cold/ sweet option for the buffet and wasn't disappointed. Staff were brilliant and very helpful always happy to assist. We had there DJ and all ran so smoothly. Some would just assume this is a typical bar in Rochester. However the George vaults is so much more. Afternoon tea, or just a nice place to sit with friends, it really has that touch of class. Highly recommended.

Thank you Carla and team for making our wedding day so special last Friday. Carla was patient when i was bombarding her with emails and put our minds at rest each time we spoke. On the day her team set up the venue beautifully both for the service and the reception. We couldn't have asked for more. Defo recommend George Vaults if you are considering an event. Mr & Mrs Browne

Really nice rear courtyard. Nice menu with some good choices. Unfortunately our food took over an hour to arrive but we were happily sat in the sunshine and offered a discount for the issue which was welcomed. Staff really friendly but felt like organisation was a little chaotic during busy spells. Would return, food was worth the wait and nice ambience.

Great place to eat drink and be sociable. Delighted to see they offer breakfast menus, very good value too. , bit difficult for wheelchair access at main entrance and to get to garden would need to access down side of building, on checking with staff happy to open side gate to allow access. Garden is airy and spacious very pleasant to relax. Staff polite and attentive.

Forget the tourist theming and the lounge area. Sure, do take a look at the 14th Century vault, take a breath of musky air and admire the moody lighting. The one thing you must do is grab a seat in the relaxed back yard and order anything from the menu. You will not be disappointed; the food is excellent: presented beautifully, full of interesting flavours and prepared with care.
Thanks chef!

GV has several bars - the main one that you walk into on ground level, which the staff try to keep as tidy and neat as possible. You can go upstairs for a quieter, cosy bar with more seating and less crowds. There is the Affinity cocktail bar, with lots of neon lights and metal furniture and the vault downstairs is used for private parties and occasional events. Would definitely recommend visiting it, if only to take a look (it's always open). The beer garden is tiny but there are heat lamps for smokers.

Good quality food served during the day, but this place comes alive in the evening. About as swanky as you will get in Rochester (apart from if you go to Swank down the road). Good atmosphere and tends to be a slightly older crowd (25-30+). Dress code is smart/casual, but definitely no trainers. It has a small function room downstairs which is also used as a dancefloor/sweatbox at the weekends.
