The Waggon at Hale is an independent family-run traditional country pub situated on Capstone Road in Chatham. Whether you are looking for a quality dining experience or great pub food and drink, you will be sure to find what you want at the Waggon at Hale. Tucked in the small hamlet of Hale, you will find the warm welcome of the Waggon at Hale Public House and Restaurant, a traditional country pub independently run by Emma Pearson and her team.
I'm a very hands-on landlady, you are most likely to find me cooking up a storm in the kitchen. On the occasions I venture front of house to serve on the bar, I do love a friendly chat with my customers. I come from a family of publicans, and have worked in many aspects of the hospitality industry for over 25 years!
We also have a range of tasty cocktails available by the glass - we even have Espresso Martini and Passion Fruit Martini on tap! Our gin range is constantly evolving, we'll be shocked if you can't find a favourite amongst our varied selection! In addition, we have a wide range of popular lagers, beers, and ciders both draft and bottled, plus up to 3 real ales on tap.
Whether it is a birthday, anniversary, christening, baby shower or a wake then look no further. We can cater for events for up to 100 people. We have a wide range of standard buffets to suit everyone's taste and budget, but if you are looking for something in particular, please do feel free to discuss your requirements with us.
We have a large garden, complete with a children's play area and even a small selection of animals! You are likely to meet Hugo, Custard & Cream the goats; Pudding, Star, Hammy, Clemmy the pigs; plus a selection of ducks, rabbits, and chickens. You can buy animal feed for 1 a bag. As a family-friendly establishment, we do ask our guests to please keep tops on in the garden, and be respectful to those around them.

I have eaten here afew times. The food is pretty bad instant mash not properly mixed so nice tasty powder lumps. This came with the winter warmer lamb shank if i am paying premium prices i expect real mash.
I give up with the food now as i have never had a good meal here.

Food was lovely and decorated amazing for Halloween, absolutely packed and couldn't move much inside to take my 3 year old to the toilet. Parking available but someone selfish parked in the way out when asked at the bar they said there wasn't another way out which after speaking to someone else having the same problem they turned round and we found another exit. Would go again but doubt for a function again

Second time I've been and second time the food was terrible. I only ordered 2 kids meals and had to wait over 45mins for a mac and cheese and a Cheeseburger. The burger bun was so dry it was literally falling apart. Asked for another bun and it was exactly the same. 2 kids meals and 3 cokes for almost £20 I would have definitely expected better.… Such a shame however I must give them credit where its due the play park is a great addition for the kids as are the animals on site which you can buy food for (which we did on both occasions) but the food really let's this place down. Got a mixed meat roast dinner delivery for £15 each looks like a child's portion you literally get 1 teaspoon of cauliflower cheese each. the yourshires way to dense. meat and veg have no flavour no seasonings had been used at All. frozen potatoes that was cooked via a hair dryer save yourself the time and don't bother

Excellent food and beverages at reasonable prices, all served by helpful and pleasant staff. Dog friendly inside and out, parking to the front and rear of the of the site, rear parking pass the front of the main pub entrance then to the left. Well maintained and modern interior, with plenty of outdoor seating and a small domestic zoo, goats, chickens etc. Wheelchair friendly via the outdoor entrance, good breakfast menu, good portions, well worth a visit
