St Columba's history curriculum is designed around our school mission and vision statements and has been developed to support the needs of our community and the child as a whole. Our curriculum is designed to be creative, inspiring and challenging. At St Columba's we are committed to providing a high-quality history education, thereby inspiring our pupils' natural curiosity to know more about the past, as well as giving them a solid 'sense of time' and an understanding of the methods of historical enquiry.

We use these for two reasons, one to show you what we have been up to and secondly so that teachers can put home learning onto the blog and the children can respond to this. We will share our learning adventure with family and friends around the world. There has been lots of work done on this and It has been proven that children can improve their writing through blogging - as they have a real audience and purpose to write for.
At St Columba's we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Baker (Headteacher), would be the first point of contact if you had a concern about one of our pupils. In her absence, our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads Miss Syddall (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Archer (Pastoral Lead), would be available.
We are the GIFT Team. As members of the GIFT Team we are called to lead our school by following in the footsteps of Jesus. Everyday we live by the gospel values and show others how they can do the same. Being a member of the GIFT Team is a challenging but very rewarding task. We lead Lunchtime Reflections for Key Stage One and Two.
Religious Education is a core subject. At St Columbas, we aim to guide the children to become religiously literate young people who have the knowledge, understanding and skills to think spiritually and theologically and who are aware of how their religion is a part of their everyday lives. Religious Education is taught for at least 10% of the weekly timetable.
All children will be taught their (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Education) and Citizenship curriculum through the Caritas in Action scheme. In a Roman Catholic school, the Church insists that its beliefs and values provide the context for and substantially shape learning throughout the school.
