All staff hold relevant childcare qualifications (Early Years Teacher/NVQ level 2&3 in childcare) and are trained in First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene. As a nursery, we are continually looking to ensure children learn and develop through the specialised teaching methods of Montessori and Forest School.
We have a stimulating School Readiness Programme for all children from 2 1/2 years which focusses on key aspects of the EYFS and Montessori including; numeracy, literacy, science, practical life, culture, foreign languages and physical education. To support this all staff are encouraged to develop their skills and have robust personal development plans and regular performance meetings with management.

Montessori is an educational approach focusing on independence, respect for a child's natural development and freedom. It is founded on the premise that while children develop in different ways and at different rates, they do so in a defined sequence.
The Montessori approach holds that young children have a natural drive to understand the world around them and they can best learn through self-teaching in carefully prepared environments, under the guidance of a caring teacher. At Stepping Stones Montessori we have a weekly timetable filled with Montessori activities led by a teacher.

At Stepping Stones Montessori Nursery, we believe that a balanced diet is vital for your child's growth and development. We hold 5 star food hygiene rating and pride ourselves on high food standards at the nursery. We have a balanced four weekly seasonal menu (including a weekly vegan option). We source all of our meat from a local butcher and all meals use fresh and seasonal produce carefully prepared by Lisa the chef on the premises.
Originally a Scandinavian idea, children of all ages can benefit greatly from the 'hands on learning' opportunities present in a woodland environment. In an age when many children have few opportunities to be outdoors, Forest Schools offer children an exciting and stimulating way to learn and experience a broad curriculum in a woodland setting.
Stepping Stones Montessori Nursery is based in Waverton, just outside Chester. Caring, flexible and professional staff, good quality food made on site, good mix of educational activities and play, forest school is (apparently!) lots of fun, staff are very familiar with the reference process for applications to the local independent schools. Overall, we have been happy with the nursery and pre-school. We thank the team for looking after our child so well.

A lovely little nursery. My son is almost three and had been at Stepping Stones since he was very young. He has thrived there. They have always been very considerate of his needs and are accommodating of his multiple food allergies. He is always happy to go to nursery and has a smile on his face when I collect him. The staff in his room, Mini Pebbles, are outstanding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Really happy with Stepping Stones, my daughter absolutely loves going and loves the diversity of activities she does. The staff really care about the children and she learns so much, often coming home counting in French and German etc. The food standard is very good and varied, with lots of healthy foods on offer which my daughter loves. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
